It has been serviced at a Ford approved garage with original parts since new following their specifications.
It is at my garage which is the main Ford Dealer who have looked after the car since new.
Greenflag towed it today, I did call them to let them know it was coming and what they suspected it may be. I realise I won't know for sure until they "open it up" but it seemed that way. It was booked in for an MOT Thursday. Think thats a Fail!!! Will call them tomorrow to see if they have had a chance to look at it (busy after the easter weekend) and let them know that I intend to chase Ford for the repair.
Thanks for all your help and advice
I'm hoping for some goodwill from Fords here! But I wouldn't hold your breath! But must admit, when I have had to deal with their customer service at Warley - they have been excellent, shame the dealers let them down, well they do in my neck of the woods....Genie

The old Ford DOHC engines had the same 100,000 mile limit on their timing chains (they had chains, not belts, but same function I guess?).
From what I've seen they tend to go pretty much bang on 100,000 miles. Others have gone at half that. Having said that, I replaced mine a couple of years ago at 170,000 miles and it was the original one.
In short I think it is completely unpredictable.0 -
