Car sharing
Evening all,
I wonder if someone could give me some advice, I get a lift to work with a "friend" the journey is 63 miles each way and they drive a 1.3 ka. They are adamant that they put in £400 a month for this journey and dont use the car at weekends etc I think £200 a month is excessive anyone have any opinions?
Thanks

That works out at about 2,730 miles per month
Need someone to come along who can work out the MPG but it might be helpful if you give an idea of the type of travel (motorways, A. B roads etc)Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
630 miles per week, approx 4 weeks per month, giving 2,520 miles per month.
At 20p per mile that's £504.
So £200 per month isn't bad.
Say they manage 36mpg, that's 70 gallons aka 320 litres. 92p/l gives £300 in fuel per month.
So £150 for fuel and £50 for associated costs.
120 miles per day is quite a long way.Happy chappy0 -
2730 miles a week in a Ka...?! Good god...0

thats 30k per year, a lot of miles on a small car,it wont be worth much when he comes to sell it on....work permit granted!0

Thanks for the replies it's a roads mainly, KA should be doing 40-60 mpg? Lol its 2700 ish a month not a week!!0

Sounds cheap and what are your options? Have you figured out how much it would cost you by public transport?
At some stage your friend is going to have to replace the car and your total payments aren't really going to help too much with that.
Thank your lucky stars and keep quiet, if they come on here they might add another £50/month on top.0 -

manufacturers figures are pie in the sky, the only way to really know how many miles per gallon you are getting is to work it out for yourself.
My daughters just bought the new 1.3 zetec.
She looked at the lcd display & saw she was only getting 30 something mpg, not great in a ka
Told her she should have got a gas guzzler like me:rotfl:0 -
