Getting from the Tower of London to the IMAX on the Southbank

Hi,
Sorry if this seems a stupid question, but what would be the best way to get from the Tower of London over to the IMAX? We're going to the Tower on Thursday morning then want to go for lunch somewhere between the two. We need to be at the IMAX for 16.30. Is it walkable?
(I've looked on the web but can't find anything that helps - probably my rubbish searching.)
Can't wait to go....

It would be quite a walk. It's about a quarter of an hour on the Underground.
From the Tower of London walk to Tower Hill Underground station.
Take the District Line westbound or the Circle Line anticlockwise
Disembark at Embankment
Take the Northern or Bakerloo Line southbound
Disembark at Waterloo
Alternatively, to get a bit more of a feel for the London "aboveground", walk to Tower Gateway Station and get the RV1 bus towards Covent Garden/Catherine Street. It departs from Stance TD and the journey takes around forty minutes to Waterloo.

agree with young master Thorne above, walk it, it's a cracking walk on a nice day.
A fair few photo opportunities on the way."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

Maybe 20 or 30, but upon looking at a map it's more doable than what I thought - walking, that is.

When I first moved to London it's how I got about, found some great places off the beaten track, cracking restaurants pubs shops etc. For all it's faults a truly great place."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

You can walk along the river bank Tower side then cross over the Millenium footbridge. There is a Pizza Express there. If you walk further along towards the South Bank there was a restaurant with outside tables that looked very popiular.0

Brilliant! Thank you all so much. I think we'll walk it, my son is a fit and healthy 8 year old and I need the exercise! I love the idea of walking over the Millenium Bridge too.
Your comments are appreciated - I'd looked on a map but couldn't get my head around the distances.0 -
:jBrilliant! - lots of walking in the rain, but still fun. The IMAX was so good we went twice. Once for Monsters vs Aliens which my son loved (I drifted off for a few mins part way through but hey ho...) and then for Under the Sea which I loved.
We didn't go to the Tower in the end, but over the day and half that we were in London we walked through China Town and Covent Garden, over the Jubilee Bridge and down Southbank, We went to the Natural History Museum, Hamleys and Harrods. All fantastic. We loved Harrods and saw a ceramic dragon for 15,000 and a Lladro boat for 200,000! It blew us both away and we couldn't stop laughing about it. We couldn't afford 200,000 so bought a cake each from the food hall instead.
Everyone in London was really friendly and we can't wait to go back.
Thank you all for your advice.:T0
