O2 upgrade/cancel?

Hi,

My contract with O2 is up for renewal on 19May so I called the O2 cancellation/retention dept to see what they can offer. My account doesn't become 'active for renewal' until the 22nd April so they can't offer any phone deals until then but did offer me the Simplicity 30day deal with 150min/300txt for £10.

My question is the guy quoted my usage as average 49min/80txt pm. I am on a £30month/redemption deal (works out about £12.50month)with dialaphone so does this mean O2 will offer a deal based on my usage or based on what I have paid over the past 12 months? Anybody have a rough idea what sort of deal could be available?

Oooer thats two of us - my deal with o2 finishes on 29th May 2009.

I am not keen on staying on with them. I have looked at what sort of things on offer - its not easy as they all tell you to phone up but if you have the o2 online account - you can login in there - click on Upgrade Online and there you can see some options - the lowest offer on there is around £20 a month which to be honest is too much for me as I use mobile very little.

If you are interested in a new deal, might I suggest Vodafone 12 month deal through phones4u at the moment - sony ericsson c510 (appears to be a decent phone too) I think - 9 months free - £120 over 12 months and its giving 600 mins, 500 texts woo hoo.

Now for me anyway that makes a lot more sense than whatever o2 might want to offer me.
  • The offers on the O2 website are not very appealing. I've had a look on the thread about O2 retentions and O2 seem to offer a few better deals whewn you actually call them.
I've also checked various third part websites DAP, phones4U etc and you can get good deals with redemptions and other stuff.
At the end of the day, I've no problem moving networks to get the best deal but just wanted to give O2 the chance to see what they can offer.
