Credit card/electoral roll help.

Hi. I have applied for a credit card, but was turned down. I have a membership with Credit Expert, and my score is 956, which is pretty good. I am not on the electoral roll though, so is that the reason why?

I have sent the form off 6 or 7 weeks ago to get on the electoral roll-does anyone know how long till that filters through to my file?

Thanks

Not on the electoral role, considered going bankrupt, turned down for a card, has a score of 956 !

    Sniff Sniff !!

You DO NOT get a so called score of 956 without being on the electoral role or without being financially stable ! Your other posts clearly state you've considered bankrupcy, suggesting you've had money problems. Who are you trying to kid Troll ?

    Quick bankrupcy question.
Hello all. First time poster, but long time lurker!! I have a qucik question for you!
If I was to become bankrupt, would they take our 2 cars from us?
The cars are both on HP in my name, and I use one and my partner uses the other. I use my extensively for work (I get a car allowance), and my partner uses hers to get to work and back, which is 20 miles each way, in the country?
So if the worst happened, what would happen to these cars? (They both are probably worth less than is owed).
  • I have posted questions on here for friends and my partner as well as myself. Who the question actually relates to is irrelevent, I just wanted to know the answer.

Mate its now twice a year Nov/Dec & Apr/May if I remember correctly..... although it shouldn't matter because the Rolling Register should alleviate any delays......

If you sent the form off then you should get added at the next electoral update (Apr/May) but until then you should ring your Local Council and ask for a letter confirming your addition and they will do you one, you then send this to the Credit Agencies who will annote the fact they have seen proof and when the LC then formally provide the update, the CRA will update their systems and it will show you.

So in essense, i'd say you'll appear around the end of May 2009, going on what you've said.

Regards to your B/R, they would of course take the cars from you as you cannot have any credit facilities when bankrupt - it is illegal and breaches b/r rules. You could go to prison for getting credit whilst bankrupt but no go to prison for the actual bankruptcy itself - bonkers eh?

    hi,

I have recently started to get mortgage approvals again,so am thinking that lenders are sttarting to think a bit more liberally.
However, due to current circumstances,i have had to become more mobile to stay in work, and as a consequence, this will be hurting my score.
My question is,on my last application,i put my old address,on which I have a mail redirection.I will only be at my new address, for 6 months,so see little point in registering here.after that, I will be on the move again,so am wondering how long I can use my old address on applications? How long can I remain on the electoral role at my old place and how do i do it if I can,via email ?

    many thanks

The electoral register seems to have a greater impact on credit scores than I would have thought. When I moved I checked my report and my score was just over 300. The fact I wasn't on the register seemed to be a problem and registering doubled my score. I haven't applied for any credit while I wasn't registered.

Perhaps the number of accounts you have is a concern - or your score is so high that lenders don't see them making any money from you because you repay your debts faster and they don't earn so much interest!

The rolling register is when you can be added month to month without having to wait for the annual register check. Being ex-directory does not automatically put you on the edited version - you have to tick the box. Once you are on the register you are on the register regardless of how you got there.
