There is no real reason for the thread or poll, wanted to know on average what hours a person works, so i feel much better, and that im not knocking out the extra 17hrs a week (mon-fri) for no reason, based a uk statistic 40hr week

OH has a 40hr week, but he gets in an extra half hour each day of OT and sometimes does Saturdays.

I ticked the sencond to last (45 hours -50/60 hours) but there are many 60 plus hours a week. And many days although he isn't working over 60 hours he's overseas a night or two. So, relationship wise, might as well be working. In fact, ATM, DH lodges in London weekdays and I live outside London. Although this brings hardships of its own, in many ways we have found it to provide some protection against frustration of last minute cancellation: I KNOW my days and evenings Mon-Thurs day are my own.

BUT its a choice DH made to work in a career where we both knew the hours were long and unpredictable, and the remuneration goes someway towards it.

I do not work, although I would like to. One of the difficulties with having long and unpredictable hours though, would be coordinating. For example, most of DH's holiday time is cancelled/postponed at the last minute. If I were employed rearranging would be impossible for an employer and that would lead to much more frustration.

God! You must all live in huge houses! I work 35 hrs, wife does 10-20 depending if it is school holidays or not. Plenty of overtime at my place and at wifes, but would rather have time at home than ££££. Life is too short!
