Try retuning it. If not, then try reloading factory settings.

    How do you do that?

Only half true, there are HD DBB-T transmissions in other countries, and presumably set top boxes that can receive them. Why would a HDMI box sold in the UK exclude such a feature?

Also an sufficently fast PC with a DVB-T receiver would be able to receive any Freview HD transmission which may be made in the future.

Assuming they broadcast it via DVB-T and not DVB-T2, as will probably be the case. They moved to DVB-S2 for some HD stuff on Sky here. They've been doing DVB-T2 trials over here recently. Either way, no current boxes (unless there are MPEG2/4 capable ones I'm not aware of) will be of any use, HDMI or not.

The reason a DVB-T STB with HDMI (bloody acronyms) wouldn't have MPEG4 support is cost. The low-cost MPEG2 decoding chipsets won't do MPEG4. There's no reason to add to the cost of manufacture by adding a MPEG4 decoder when there's currently no use for it whatsoever in the UK, and there might never be a use for a *DVB-T* receiver with MPEG4 decoding abilities.

Freeview is a brand name, not a technology or a method of delivery.

No, it's completely true. DBB-T transmissions in other countries are not Freeview. There is no such thing as a Freeview HD box.

Sorry to be a pedant, but it's DVB-T. Also, the aussies have "Freeview" these days, and there are 5 HD channels. It's a fairly new occurence mind you.

Personally I'd rather they sold all the spectrum currently used by freeview and analogue and used the money along with whatever else is needed to give us all fibre. The places it's not economical can get satellite, and the rest of us can get HDTV and fast internet down the fibre.

TBH if you've done a full rescan using an aerial feed that definitely yields channels using another tuner, there's probably something wrong with it.

    Unless...

There's a setting on your TV somewhere for telling it what region's DVB-T it's to tune into. Here in the UK we space channels 8MHZ apart, iirc. The alternative is 7MHZ. could be that it's been reset to defaults, which has put it on the wrong bandwidth.

Your TV remote should have a Menu button or something similar.
You need to look for a Tuning option in the settings.

There are so many different TVs you should really go and look for your TV manual and have a read. Tuning will be part of the Quick-Set-up pages which most manuals have.

If you have no joy there post the make & model of the TV and someone may be able to help.

Does anyone know what could be wrong with the digital thats built in the TV? When I go into menu and select Digital TV it just shows up as a blank screen. One moment we were watching freeview TV and the next nothing

Possible aerial/co-ax lead problem? Does it give you a picture if you switch to analogue mode? If so, then it isn't a problem with the aerial or lead, most likely a tuner fault.

    The analogue mode works ok.

I've tried re setting the digital setting but nothing. Thank you anyway everyone for your help.
