Hi All,
At the end of last year I got a £35 ticket by a Traffic Warden because my badge was 3 weeks out of date. I hadnt realised & thought (mistakenly) the Council sent a reminder! Anyway after 6 weeks & several letters the ticket was cancelled - a one time only decision.
Its made me very careful now! BUT it only took the Council less than a week to issue my blue badge, despite telling me it would take one month, or more!! Good old Southend (not something I say very often!!).

My husband has a blue badge and took his renewal into the one stop shop (or whatever they're called) and had it issued there and then within 10 minutes. He only realised it was out of date because he got a parking ticket which the council refused to withdraw because the badge was more than one month out of date. They didn't dispute the fact he was still entitled to a blue badge but that didn't matter.0

Might it be an idea to put a reminder in your mobile phone, for about 2 months before the Blue Badge is about to expire? I use a PDA (personal digital assistant) and I realise not everyone has these, but most people have mobiles, and if you go to the Calendar application, you should be able to put in a reminder for that far ahead.
I know that doesn't help the OP this time, but might stop it happening again? If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Everyone who recieves DLA gets a letter once a year with the new rates in Febuary-April.
I cant believe that any council will give out a BB after just showing an award letter because in this day and age anyone can knock one up on a PC, councils need time to check with Blackpool anyone appling for a BB because they are not allowed to give a badge thats valid longer than the award.

It will probably come through pretty quickly after you apply - I know my council always says to allow 6 weeks, but it's generally through in less than half thatAl Mac Appreciation Society (AMAS) member # 6½

My daughters runs out at the end of June.
I rang local council about reapplying a s she now gets DLA higher rate, they checked details and they have our old address so reminders would have gone there. I got my details updated, and they said not to worry they will send a reminder, I like to get things done before it runs out, it was enough trouble getting a BB in first place let alone getting DLA for her0 -
I have an indefinite award, and I had a letter last week telling me the new benefit rates. This letter states that it is proof of your entitlement, and includes the start and end dates (if any) of your award. Have a hunt through recent post - you might find the letter in the pile!C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0

For what it is worth, my local council do NOT send reminder letters when a blue badge is due for renewal. The reason given when a chum queried this was that, often the holder was deceased (and had been for a long time) and such mail caused grief to the next of kin..
