car alarm keeps going off...mighty fed up anyone help??
Our car alarm keeps going off for no reason day and night last night about 6 times through the night, there is no one near it and I am sure the neighbours must have been pretty fed up last night. Even when we switch the alarm off it keeps on going making a quieter noise and the lights are flashing on it!!!! anyone who can give me any ideas please before we get lynched! Its a Vauxhall Astra 2001 by the way if that makes it any easier

my new vw does this all the time
i think its the ultrasonic sensors, if your car has a button to turn these off try pressing it0 -
If there's a manual method of turning air recirculation on put that one. Sometimes air blowing in through the blowers is enough to trigger an alarm. You could also try asking an auto electrician or alarm specialist.0

My lexus did that when the battery is running low - It may be an idea just to check tha battery0

Lock the doors with the key!0

thanks for your replies everyone. I will look at the battery. We have tried just locking car with the key but the same thing happens, also does it when car is left unlocked!!!0

It might not apply to you but i know with my Volvo if i had coins in the centre consul this would set the alarm off(something about being to near the alarm box).Removed the coins and all ok.

If it's a Vauxhall it will be the siren at faut. Specially if it does it when unlocked.0

Harveydoodah - you beat me too it. I was going to suggest the siren. We had a few Avensis' that would start to 'sing' or go off etc. Main dealer told one of our new customers that they would need a new alarm system - 1k plus etc. We had a look at the siren and it looked a bit 'manky' (technical term
) - changed it, cost about £20 and not had the customer back with that fault since then - and that must be 2 to 3 years ago now.
Since then, we've changed a few sirens and solved the problem. These tended to be the earlier Avensis' - around S to W reg. Not a Vauxhall - but it may be helpful!Genie
