How long do banks keep hassling you for before they giveup???

I got out 2 Halifax creditcards last year around January and then June time, with a total of about £8,000.

The short story is that i wasnt able to pay it off as i needed my income to live on, especially with how crap the financial help for under 25s is compared to over 25s.
And so i sent them some of those template letters saying that i cant afford to pay them back, and that i dont own property or a car, so advising them to just write it off.

They started ringing my mobile about 10x per day for a few weeks,
so i just changed my simcard number.
But i was using that sim earlier today and saw there have been 1,689missed calls from them since september! Lol
And ive got a few of those letters in the post from them trying to legally-scare you into paying them money, latest one being about 1month ago.

Its going to have been 1year in a few months,
but so im just curious how long do banks normally take before they just accept defeat and giveup hassling you as they know they aren't gna get anything??

In short, the Halifax, if they don't take legal action will simply sell the debt on to a DCA who will hound you for the next 6 yrs.
It is quite possible that before selling the debt on they will seek to obtain a CCJ which in effect will not only trash your credit rating but you will end up paying, albeit a nominal amount until the whole debt is payed back.
They will, with an attachment order take money from earnings or benefits regardless.
If you had no feasible methods of paying back the money in the first place
then you should't have got in so deep.
Only way out now is to arrange some kind of payment plan or declare yourself bankrupt.
Don't be fooled into thinking that you can merely walk away. :money:
    Natwest gold..Limit £1750 bal £970..Vanquis Limit £3000 bal £0..Littlewoods..Limit £1200 bal 0..Additions direct..Limit £4900 bal £1356..Empire Limit £6200 bal £152..Jd williams..Limit £1100 bal £130..Simplybe..Limit £1500 bal 265,,Fashion world..Limit £1400 bal £145 Jacamo..Limit£125 bal 0

i dont think they will give up untill they get the money back or take legal action and i dont think you will be able to ever open a another bank, catorloge or get a morgage or any kind of cotract phone or contract internet or pay any thing monthy untill you pay because you will have bad credit

I currently have 8 bank accounts, have an 02 contract simcard, a monthly internet bill and pay electricty bills every 6months,
so im not having any problems on that side of stuff.

Im just curious how long it will be till they see that theres nothing they can do though and so just write my debt off with the billions of others they wrote off last year.

My career is self employed working as a stockmarket trader, trading crude oil.
So all my income is tax exempt and goes straight into my trading account, and i just withdraw to my bank account every few weeks when rent i due and stuff.

So theres no danger of me having to go to court about this as the bank know that i rent a property not bought, that i dont own a car as i dong like driving, and that when they checked with the DWP that theres no traceable proveable income of any sort that they court hold against me in court,
so they wont have me as their target market for people who they would spend their time and money in tryng to start a court case against,
since they only do that for people who own property and/or have a traceable income source,
since otherwise their case would collapse in a civil court.

I think they have already sold the debt on though which is good as it means im closer to the end of the process line...,
the reason why i think its already been sold is because about 2months ago a debt-collector went to my previous residence (family house) about this,
but my mum just told him that i didnt live there anymore,
and so there wasnt anything they could do.

They could try coming to my apartment, but its down a private road, which then has security-code gates, which then has a locked door to the block of flats, which would then have my locked door at the top which i dont/and wouldnt ever let a baliff or anyone else in through anyways as legally i dont have to,
so im fine on that front.

Im just curious as to what the next step they would take now-
*When they know they couldnt get anything agaisnt me in court.
*They know they cant contact me or send baliffs to mine.
*The firm would have bought the debt and so the bank wont then buy it back off them...

So im just curious as to if they actually tell you 'ok we give up'?

Or if they just stop trying to phone you and write me letters, and move on to the next in-debt account on their system instead?

Sounds to me like when you borrowed(should that be stole?) the money you never had any intention of paying it back.

its people like you who the banks SHOULD chase and jail so you dont get a chance to keep on taking.

    :rotfl:

Most laughable post of this or any other week? I think so! So you trade crude oil but can't afford £8k of debt? Google Walter Mitty - you might recognise some traits!

EDIT: Just noticed another good one - your alleged income is "tax exempt" hey? Can you say Capital Gains Tax?!

Blatent troll, in this tread he's a trader, in another he's unemployed:

icon1.gifProfessional government job but manager asking for cash upfront from me!!
After many many months of looking for a job and coming extremely close to being homeless now i finally got offered a job that id applied for.

Its a cctv and surveilance job working from the local government office, alongside the police.
So i know that it is a professional job.

The actual company that would be paying my salary and that id have the contract with though is a big security company that the local council contracted to handle all the cctv security and surveilance, working alongside the police.

And here you are on JSA:
