Do I have chance of winning? Ebay

I sold a car part that I ordered from a reputable online salvage yard, I ordered the wrong part so was unable to send it back as it was a customer order error, the part did have 30 day warranty for faults only. My hubbie is a mechanic and said the part was in good working order. I sold the part, 3 wks after the auction end I had a very short email saying the part was broken and he only just found out when his mechanic tried to fit it. I explained the warranty, that my hubbie had identified it was in good working order when dispatched (and his occupation), but would refund if when returned it matched the identifable marks I know it to have on it. He went quiet for several days. I suspect he replaced his broken car part with the one I sent him and is trying to return his original broken part and get his refund. He has come back and asked for an address to sent back to. If I do correctly identify that it isn't the part I sold will it be likely that I am still likely to lose out? He never left any feedback so I imagine he is seeing how this goes before giving me a neg.

Just give him your address and get the part back. Once you have it in your possesion I think you are in a stronger position.

I'm not sure how I'll be in a stronger position, reading some of the threads on here there seems so be so many similar scams. I think I'm finished with Ebay and Paypal if this goes the way I think it will.

Did they pay via Paypal? I know that you will know if it is your part but it may be difficult to prove.

They may be genuine but I would wary of signing for anything. If they are a scammer I hope that they do not send via trackable method as they would win a Paypal dispute (if applicable).

It was only £15 but it's the principal of the matter, I have several very good clear photos of both sides of the part, showing marks in certain places that would identify the part as mine. I only used one in the advert but I have informed the buyer that I would recognise my part. I just keep reading that paypal favour the buyer.

When selling something on Ebay, which has serial numbers or other identifying marks on it, you sould ALWAYS photograph these, that way, if someone tries to pull a fast-one & Paypoo believes them and gives a refund, you have enough actual evidence to gor straight to the Police to report the seller for 'obtaining goods by deception'.
There are too many scammers on ebay these days to even risk not taking those photos.

I've heard that the police don't want to bother with paypoo (like the name!) problems.

Try saying that if they return the part the original salvage supplier advised you that because of scammers they security mark all parts and are happy to advise you on how to check their mark. Many use a special pen that shows under a special light, half a bottle of wine on board I can't remember the name, someone sober will though. A bit petty 15 pounds, good luck with it.

£15 may seem like a petty amount, maybe I'm naive but I was brought up honest and I don't think dishonest people should be allowed to get away with it, so I'm going to make him work for his money first, I'm sure I'll end having to hand his refund back and he'll have a nice working part in his car and I'll have his duff original one.
