Thanks for the Default o2!
Options
Hi People im new on here so go easy.
Just over three years ago i had a contract phone with o2, due to problems with my bank DD and a change of address o2 disconnected me and charged me £180 for the privelidge. My case was soon passed to Moorcroft Debt, they called and we arranged to setup a payment plan to clear the amount, following the call this was never done. Needless to say i now have a default on my credit file. The £180 was later settled.
Im soon to be 23 and looking to get a mortgage with my partner but nowhere interested due to the above. Ive written to o2 who say they have to give an accurate representation my payment history, however i feel this is innacurate and ive never missed a payment proir to this or since. Ive also written to moorcroft debt to ask for the details of the person i spoke to who should have setup the payment plan, they say they have no record on their systems of anyone ever being in contact with me.
Where do i go from here, is there really nothing i can do?
Many thanks
Ash

Sorry if this comes across as harsh but surely you should have noticed that no payment were leaving from your bank and should have contacted Moorcroft to find out why?
If I was O2 I would assume that you were taking advantage by hoping that they'd forgotten about it.
I don't think that O2 would deal with you as it was passed to deb recovery. Try writing to Moorcroft, or go to your local CAB.
Sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for.0 -
They wont have charged you £180, thats more than likely term fee's for the remaining months on your contract, you would have known you had defaulted on your account when they cut off your phone, why didn't you query it then?Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

Have you got copies of your Equifax and Experian records? If not, then do so and then you can ask them to put a note on your account disputing whatever has been placed there by o2. It may not make any difference, but it can do no harm. And you should check that the file has been updated to show that the default has been paid. However the default note will stay for a period of 6 years. You are unlikely to get anywhere with the recovery firm, as they will not be interested once the debt has been paid.
Unfortunately in the current climate mortgages are hard to come and the first thing they do is to screen out people who have a less than perfect credit history. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Why do people always blame others....
1. When you move house its your responsibility to inform everyone details of change of address (they arent psychic you know). I suppose you forgot to tell the council or water men as well when you moved house??
2. They dont instantly disconnect you, some time must've passed before this happened.
3. Moorcroft didnt ring you. Boohooo... they dont care if you get a default but you should... so in the future take more responsibility for your own affairs dont be nannied.x
seriously what sort of individuals are we bringing up in this country?0 -

£180 for the remaining months line rental. Why should you not pay it?My case was soon passed to Moorcroft Debt, they called and we arranged to setup a payment plan to clear the amount, following the call this was never done.0 -
Im a little confused. It doesn't seem right that payment was not taken by Moorcroft. When you say, default, are you telling us that O2 took you to court?
Has this balance been paid off. How long ago did this happen?0
