Bumblebee anyone?

They discussed this on Countryfile recently too, scary stuff! They were talking to French scientists that think a particular kind of pesticide is at least partly to blame, but the government here doesn't agree there is enough evidence to support a ban. With something this serious however, have we really got time to find definites?! It this is a main cause, by the time anyone proves it, it will be too late!
It just seems basic common sense, huge levels of pesticides and herbicides can't be good for any animal, along with intensive farming of a very small variety of crops, some bees have their whole territory covered by only one or two main crops. But hey, I guess the government always knows best! :rotfl:0 -
Well, the club answered my email and I'm welcome to join them for the beginners class next week
No idea if my garden is big enough for a hive but I'll soon find out! 0 -

There are some pictures here of BRITISH bees that should give you an idea of what to look for.

There's a bee thing on BBC4 now. And "Who killed the honey bee?" is on again in an hour if anyone's interested.0

hello all,
I have just been given a chimney cowel like this and was wondering if anyone knew if it could be used in my garden as a bee house of sorts? Do I put dry straw etc in it or just leave it empty? sun or shade?
Thanks
