I just checked if I can get 02 using my landline number

And this is what I got

We've estimated that your maximum download speed is 16 meg .This is based on information BT gave us about your BT line.

Actual download speeds depend on different things, like the distance between your telephone exchange and your home, or the quality of your BT line. We'll work with what's there and always give you the fastest speed we can, depending on your chosen package. Even then, your broadband speed might vary from time to time.

Thats good right? I know it can depend on certain things, but 16 is good, cos I do play games online sometimes and download music/video/films etc

I was offered free 8mb broadband as part of my o2 mobile renewal. As I didn't previously have a BT line (was with Virgin) I'll be setting it up once my Virgin term expires on the 6th of May.

Does anyone know if I can set up my o2 Broadband online through Quidco and get the £70?

Also, what's the cheapest way to get a BT line? Don't need any phone calls, just need the line for broadband. Am I right in thinking the BT Basic is only for those on benefits?

Yes but if you sign up for the basic deal i.e upto 8Mb, then that,or a bit less,is what you will get. They will cap your theoretical 16mb because you have only paid for 8mb. Max 8Mb is plenty for most people.

BT Basic is £4.50 per month, but you have to be on certain benefits to qualify.
Yes you can have any broadband you want on it-it's just a BT line as far as o2 are concerned.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
