Does anyone know of a tank driving place near SE London?
I had microlighting bought for me through Red Letter Days which was great but the staff at the airfield did say it would be much cheaper to book with them direct next time..0 -
I've been on a Corporate Hospitality Event at Mallory Park in Leicestershire, although the individual package isn't cheap at around £200 a head.
The day consists of...
1. Several laps as a passenger in a Golf GTI with a fully qualified race instructor. Then you take the wheel yourself and are "scored" on your performance.
2. 8 laps in a single seater formula Ford 1600 with a "crash-gearbox". (Note: I got around 20 laps because someone collapsed in the paddock and the only first-aiders nearby were the 2 people counting the laps!!!!!!)
3. 8 laps in a Caterham 7 - wickedly fast! Instructor said I wasn't going round Macleans "fast enough". He had me controlling the throttle (with my arms folded across my chest) while he steered leaning across me - and all this at 90mph!!!!! If you've been to Mallory you'll know what I mean.
4. Formula One timed wheel change - teamwork exercise.
5. Go-karts - 16 men from 4 different departments within the same company - a recipe for disaster. If I remember correctly, 9 of them were black-flagged in total!
6. A Land Rover with a "reversed" steering rack - turn the wheel left to turn right and vice-versa. This was a timed obstacle course and was great fun.
All in all, a fantastic day out. Not sure I'd pay £200 for it for myself though.
From memory, the event was run by http://www.everymanracing.co.uk and I see from their website that they now do a formula one 2 day package for only £1,250 (only!!!!!)0 -
Not the exoticar experience, but certainly entertaining, informative & eye opening... https://www.ridedrive.co.uk
You're in your own car, with a Class 1 Police traffic officer - you're not 'taught' or 'tested' but, you DO learn a lot!!
