Driving Experience Days

Anyone been on any of these and can recommend them or any good deals.

Activities in the North west would be ideal.

Around the £150 mark or cheaper.

  • We bought one of the tank driving days for my dads birthday this year from Red Letter Days - It cost about £150 and was really worth it. Dad got to drive various sorts of tanks and armoured vehicles and there were people there of all ages taking part, I would definitely recommend it.

  • Hi,

I would suggest buying through a circuit directly rather than buying "experience days" vouchers.

In the North West I've used Aintree Racing Drivers School which was very good.

I bought the Aintree one for my girlfriend and she really enjoyed it (cheap hotel is the Wetherspoons in Wigan).
  • Which type of driving experience did you purchase?

Wigan is probably the closest circuit to me .

I would endorse what Matchfacts said. I won a £150 Red Letter Day Experience of my choice, so I used most of it to book a 'Pamper Day' at Hoar Cross Hall, Staffs-going in Feb 05. A friend has been very good to me I wanted to take her as well, so I rang Hoar Cross directly, and purchased the same 'experience' for half the cost of the Red Letter Day- I was l glad I didn't originally pay for it!!

  • I did the Introductory Race Car Trial - bought for me as a present. Really enjoyed it!!

I've also booked the Supercar & Single Seater Experience as a retirement present for someone at work but he hasn't booked it yet so I can't say how it was.

You can do 'track days' at the racing circuit on Angelsey in N. Wales. Not sure of the website, though. Look it up on Google??

  • We bought our son a ferrari day out through buyagift.com last year - £200. He was very dissapointed. Had very short time in car and only got up to 2nd gear. complained to buy a gift and was refunded half our money. I'd agree it would be better to deal with the track companies direct. :(

I have done quite a few of these as corporate hospitality events, the best by a long way was Jonathan Palmer (https://www.palmersport.com) which is permanantly based near Bedford. The whole day is first class, great staff, good food, shelter if it is raining...brilliant. Not sure how much it costs but I would presume it isn't the cheapest
