£2000 govt trade-in allowance

Hi!
Can any one tell me more about Alistair Darling's new initiative to get old, environmentally un-friendly cars off the road...£2000 off the price of a new car if you hand over your oldie for scrapping?
Or is someone pulling my leg?
Roll on the 22nd April will then get all the details.
Should really be a £2500 allowance, cars cost more in the UK than in Europe. The conditions are likely to be similar to those in the Citroen and Vauxhall schemes that are currently running."How could I have been so mistaken as to trust the experts" - John F Kennedy 19620 -
Even if I traded in my old car and got £2000, where would I get the other £1000's to buy the new car? Sadly I'm not made of money.
Besides, keeping your old car is more environmentally friendly than buying a new one every few years. Aren't we always being told to recycle in this country?0 -
