Advice please ... Mobile Broadband

OH has been approached to start up a weekly computer social type evening and needs to have broadband access.
The premises that will be used only has a pay phone so cannot get broadband package on that and has decided to look at the mobile options.
What equipment would he actually need to start it off to get the one connection and then would just a wireless dongle attached to anyone else's laptops automatically connect to this or would more technical stuff be required.
Initially they need to keep it as simple and inexpensive as possible in case it just doesnt take off and isnt viable to continue.
How much bandwidth would be required for approx 3 hours per week or would this also depend on how many laptops were connecting.
Would the simple answer be for each person to purchase their own loaded mobile dongle ??
Sorry for so many questions but hope someone can nudge me in the right direction

I have 3 for mobile use and with the usb dongle you can not share. I believe it's possable to get a mobile broadband router but can not swear to it . having s connection shared will push up cost's due to bandwidth use also depends on what your doing gaming i player etc . If it was me i would say 1 dongel per person that way the bills are shared equaly0

You can't share access using a USB dongle. You would need to use a router with a built in 3G mobile broadband capability, then connect wirelessly to that. Simplest way would be for everyone to have their own dongle and be responsible for their own costs.
But firstly check if you can get a decent 3G signal at the site on your intended provider. Without this it's a no-no, because otherwise you will be running at dial up speeds..No free lunch, and no free laptop
