Just to second Bettingmad: I have returned from a trip to Wales. Not far off the beaten track but my cheap 3 data bundle in a high end HTC handset was useless while the Asda sim card in an old Moto handset kept me in touch with my emails. Start with Asda.0

hi guys....
regarding the cell fone being compatible to 3G or 3 network.....just thought i'd let you know that i work nights most of the week and mostly go on msn chat or yahoo chat or facebook for 3-4-5- hours a night and i use my O2 XDA mini fone....
this is all confusing me, shall i opt for 3 sim card or get an asda one guys ???...sorry i m just totally confused....
thanks lots for answering to me...0 -
XDA is not a 3g phone so will not likely work with a 3 sim card. If you want the 3 ul data at £5 a month you need a 3g compatible phone. If your using the web as much as you say then 3 would be the way to go if you have the coverage and buy a compatible phone. You have nothing to lose by buying the ASDA sim just to see how you go. You will have a better idea then.0

I agree with balt, go with Virgin as long as you can get a signal with T-mobile (the network they use). You can get a free sim from their website and data costs only 30p a day for 25MB. the same amount of data on ASDA would be £5.00.
Check your phone is unlocked.0 -
Is the Asda PAYG data at 20p per Mb available on 3G?
The website seems to talk only about GPRS.0 -
im dead sure my fone is unlocked coz i have used different sims...i will try to pass by asdas and pick a sim card .....0

I hope I am not digressing the thread too much but could somebody please explain how you connect to the internet assuming no wireless reception.
Also how do you connect whilst in Europe from your mobile...
Thanks very much0 -
Last evening went to asdas to buy an asda sim card (£ 0.47) for my O2 XDA Mini mobile, which i suppose is on T-Mobile network.
I tried in 3 different locations....some miles away but no luck with the network. No signal ! what wrong am i doing ?....
is T-mobile also been so bad with networks/signals ???
cheers guys...0 -
Ignore if any of the below is obvious to you:
ASDA piggybacks on the Vodafone network (not T-Mobile), so it is unusual not to get a signal.
Have you tried to search your locations on their website?

(I'm assuming that your phone is not locked to the O2 network and you have checked that the phone has installed the appropriate settings for ASDA Mobile as indicated on the ASDA website).0 -

I'm more of a data user rather than voice or text. No other network can beat this deal. As long as you don't use their customer services and you can get good coverage then its the best thing out there at the moment on PAYG. I'm even considering dropping my contract for this, as theres no tie in either. Currently paying £5 for internet on top of my £15 p/m line rental with minutes & texts I don't use.
So, in other words, you cannot only top up an amount to be used for data ONLY. i mean that lets say if i top up £10 on 3's PAYG + £5 data, so the £10 i will not be using at all but still have to top up £5 p/month for dat?...is that correct ? The reason i ask is i have a contract fone already and now want another PAYG sim to ONLY use internet.
cheers mate0
