Well, if you can't afford it, you shouldn't have it.
I'm a musician, and I'm interested to learn that you don't think my family should eat.
I assume you work for free though, so it's all good.

I asked for advice not to be got at ... maybe if you approached the subject in a more delicate way you would get further forward in getting people to agree with you.
Ipods are a brand as far as I was aware. MP4 players are non-generic.0 -
I did try approaching it in a more delicate way by suggesting that downloaded music was actually quite good value, and then your reply suggested that you don't actually want to pay anything for music. CDs cost £10 - £15. Downloads are often half that price. So I'm not buying the argument that either of them are too expensive to buy. If you really can't afford them, do what I used to do and pay a few pounds for them on eBay.
An mp4 player is something that plays mp4 files, which an iPod does. Hence, they are mp4 players.0
