I take my own lunches to work aswel, and its food from my house that my mum buys:D And Tom, you can choose to opt out of working a certain amount of hours?

I do 47 and a half hours a week Monday to Friday, and got some overtime in yesterday, time and a half all day for my usual 9 and a half hour day. So done 57 hours this week and hope to do the same next week. Pay day on Friday:D Getting my passport for £72 and hopefully thats all il spend!

    Hi there Rictus123,
You're getting a lot of good advice here and I've not much to add, but you might think of getting an Alliance and Leicester Premier 21 account. If you go through Quidco you can get £50 cashback, and there is a 5% interest rate on this A/c which is pretty good ATM.
My son (nearly 17) opened one just before Xmas and the cashback and account opening went smoothly.
Just thought I'd mention it. Good luck and best wishes with your saving and being MSE!

    MrsB.

Huh? You worked 57 hours this week?

By law, under 18 employees can only work 40 hours and no overtime. (I remembered someone at work who was very bitter that our company would not allows her to do overtime because of that. As favour for her, I took quick glances over the working hours rules and agreed with company's decision)

Exceptionally, however, if there is no adult available to do the work and the young worker's training needs aren't affected, they may work longer hours if it is necessary to: maintain continuity of service or production and respond to a surge in customer demand.

As an apprentice, you are also an employee and therefore the working hours directive applies to you. If you are under 18, then there is even more restrictions.

Just curious, how long are your breaks?

On the lighter note, it is nice to see that you are doing well to save up. I like packed lunches myself and cannot help but to feel slightly pleased once I worked out the total cost of buying lunches every day.

Yeh 57 hours in this week. The company hours are 9 and a half a day Monday to Friday. The site manager has told me since iv been doing so well recently i can now choose my own hours(obviously the half 7 till 5 will be Monday to Friday) but i can please myself if i put in more an when. I think il go open that account now, do i need to join Quidco first? Or does it not matter? Cheers for that anyway.

My workday is - 7.30 til 9.30 then 15 mins break
9.45 til 12 then half hour break
    12.30 til 3 then 15 mins break
    3.15 until 5

    Seems fair to me?

Dont want this to sound disrespectful or offensive to anyone but dont you think you'll suffer from burn out working all those hours?

I understand some people aren't in a position to take a rest and have to look for more hours to pay for their needs, but I just feel that at your age and your financial commitments, you are earning a perfectly fine wage to accomodate your lifestyle and should be able to save enough each fortnight.

Obviously this is merely a thought, I dont really know your situation but I feel you should be fine with your current income without having to work every hour of the week lol.

Every hour of the week are you joking lol. I feel very lazy on a Saturday when my gf is working and all i seem to do is laze about at home. I go into work and get a bit of exercise that way:) Id so much rather be working and earning money than sitting at home. Get a payrise end of June, which will see my Monday to Friday earnings jump up a few hundred a month, working the 4 Saturdays in a month would earn me an extra £116.64 a month for exactly the same hours and work. Cant wait, i feel like its so deserved.

Ok so i just had a little look around my finances!

My loan is currently at about £960, so about £1000 to pay it off?
It was taken out in January 09 so paying the £30 a month that i am for the 5 years, until January 2014:( would mean iv still got to pay anoth £1700!!! My gf has offered to pay this off and just pay her back what i can when i can, with no intrest though! What does everyone think? Good or bad idea?

Also just opened that account to get £50 from quidco, it says il have a £2000 overdraft limit charging a maximum £5 a month intrest? Should i pay my car insurance on this do use think? Or pay my loan off with this and get charged £5 a month(currently about £30 a month i think:()
