With all the phones I've ever had, the delivery reports has been switched off by default

Seems like a big rip off though. They must make millions from text messages as it is with the sheer number sent everyday

Yeah you can switch off delivery reports in SMS settings - but I still like to receive them so I know if my messages have been received.

send a second message after the first one, "Did you get my text?", comes out of teh inclusive texts.....voila

(why do people use delivery reports in most normal situations anyway, unless the text is critical, and if it is that critical then back it up with a phonecall maybe, do delivery reports really matter?)

Yes it matters, specifically 2 cases

    * You want to send a text to an international number but dont know if target mobile network is supported with Orange or not. Free delivery report from overseas. Very helpful.

    * I drop a message to my friend (who keeps phone off at work) and It tells me when the phone was switched on (and text delivered)

Thats why I will keep it on even if I have to pay a penny each.

thats why I said in most normal situations, if you know you are sending international text can be switched on when needed
