Hi Carla, If you can I would buy a George Foreman grilling machine. I bought one years ago and it is the best thing I have bought. You can do almost anything on them. I would buy the one where the grill pans come off that way it is easier to clean. Just a suggestion and I hope you dont mind me saying but there is help for people to cook (not saying that you cant cook) but they will help you with meal suggestions with limited resources. There are usually aimed at young single parents but I dont see why you should not be able to attend. Usually these can be found through your local Primary care trust, Health visitors or district nurses might have this information.

Hope this helps and good luck with everything .

    Hi Carla

    1. The TRY ME FREE thread which is located at the top of the freebie forum main page, you will have to buy something then claim money back or get vouchers for free items.

    2. Print off vouchers from discount code/voucher sites

    3. Go to the supermarket at the end of the day and find things greatly reduced.

    4. Go to greengrocers end of day then make salads, fruit

    5. Ask at bakers at the end of the day

    6. Buy the 2 for 1 items in the supermarkets

    5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

    4 tablespoons flour
    4 tablespoons sugar
    2 tablespoons cocoa
    1 egg
    3 tablespoons milk
    3 tablespoons oil
    3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract (optional)
    1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract (if using) and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
    Enjoy!

Which supermarket do you go to when you're getting things?
If you go to some supermarkets, they have a card where you can collect points. These points will then be converted into money off vouchers for certain products that you buy all the time (we have a cat and we always get money off cat food from a store card where we collect points!) and general money off vouchers for £5 or £10. We tend to shop in Tesco and their points system is very good! We're always getting money off vouchers through the post!
Maybe if you were to do this, even though you're not getting much for free or cheaply, you will get a lot of money off from the vouchers once they know what you buy regularly.
If you look around the store, they'll have a "reduced to clear" shelf in quite a few of the aisles. They often have things which are perfectly fine, just slightly damaged (such as a dented tin or a 6 pack of cola with 1 missing) and this could be good for you as it's cheaper that way.
If you go to the deli counter at the end of the day, they often have the remaining items reduced and bagged up. You could reheat some of these items in your microwave and get a decent meal on a friday that way!
I hope this is of some use to you!

hi carla, using you're slow cooker is a great idea, you can make a stew or casserole with loads of veggies and different types of meat, and then warm it up in the microwave, hope everything goes well with the little ones xx
wins so far:- absolutely nothing, not even an arguement:mad:
