Considering i came onto a thread titled "trying to find the darkest self tan..." Obviously anything other than dark - as stated in the title is "naff" to me
I am pleased to say that this thread has grown into much more than the original title thanks to all the varied replies and suggestions.
Hi toinfinityandbeyond, welcome, depending on your skin tone I would start at a 6 or 8 % if you are yellow toned or a 10 if you are pink toned buy a small size first of all and remember you can layer but you cant take away, colour guide means you will get an instant colour when you apply which you later wash off to reveal the developed colour (this is my preference) or you can get clear which is harder to get right if your not experienced but probably less messy. You will need a small spray bottle, latex type gloves, a tanning mitt and a back applicator if you do your back yourself, these are all available from superdrug, boots etc have a read through the thread for detailed advice when you have time cos it is rather long any more questions just ask and good luck:DThank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Hi all,
I don't really know what to do now as I didn't order it last night as it said on the website that new members would get a £10 voucher within 48 hours of registering so I registered and was waiting for it to come through, although I'm not convinced it will. So now I'm not sure weather to go ahead with it or not..
Toinfinityandbeyond, if you are v. v. pale (like me) I recommend the siennasol extreme which is the 16% solution we talk about, they also do siennasol bronze which is 10% I think but if you are very pale you will probably need a few layers of the extreme to get a good colour.
You don't have to get a spray bottle but it does minimise the risk of spilling some, you can get them in boots or superdrug amongst all the travel accessorise, although I do have a larger one from superdrug which was amongst all the hair stuff.
Let us know how you get on!

Glowgirl, you type much quicker then me! :rotfl: Here I am recommending she dives straight in the 16%, I must try and remember not everyone has a tanning problem like me! Your advice is probably best as like you say you can always add more but not take away!0

Hi girls,
thanks for the answers! At the mo i use loreal fresh feel gel which is clear,i find it is the darkest i have tried. I am used to putting it on clear so maybe i should try that one? I find st tropez really messy so maybe the clear is best but i want the darkest or are they both the same colour result? Thanks x0 -
Hmmmm, not sure if I'm not reading it properly but I cant see any percentages on the siennasol clear on their site maybe give them a quick call, you can order as well from them over the phone check it out yourself though online cos I'm tired and probably missed the obvious;)The clear product sounds really nice actually and if your happy with clear then give it a go remember its a different type of product (water based) then the ones you can buy commercially so application is slightly different so have a good read on here as well - best of luck let us now what you decide and how you get on:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Hi girls,
Just wanted to jump in to ask some quick advice - I'm somewhat of a self tan 'pro' in that I have tried all of the high street ones and find I they are streaky, smelly, patchy, orange etc etc - you will probably all know the drill!
I've read through the whole thread (took me about two days!) but what I really want to ask is:
between celeb secrets and siennasol - what should I go for? I think I will try 16% to start with as this seems to be the most popular starting point.
Also, on the siennasol website there aren't percentages - am I right in thnking that 'extreme' is 16%?
Thanks girls

Hieveryone, yes the siennasol extreme is 16% and I would recommend siennasol over celeb secrets, it's definetly a better product with the added bonus of quick delivery!

Oh sugar! I was super impatient and just ordered Celeb Secrets! lol - that'll teach me! I'm in no great hurry for it but hopefully it will come quickly - means I can practice with that at least!
also, my friend is getting married - would this be a good prodcut for her - i.e not to rub off on her wedding dress etc?

Celeb secrets is still a great product so don't worry! It should be with you in a few days.
Yes celeb secrets or siennasol would be a good product for your friends wedding, it does still rub off a very small amount but not as much as other tans and it does wash out in my experience, except on bras - is it just me or is it impossible to keep a white bra white?! Just make sure your friend has plenty of time to practise first as it's quite different to shop brought products and she wont want any disasters just before her big day!
