nokia N70 ... swopping sims and phones ...

i see that onestopphoneshop are doing the nokia n70 on various "3" tariffs ...

would i be able to put my o2 sim card into the n70 ..?? ..does it need unlocking .. and does the 3g/2g thing cause a problem...

then also could i put the 3 sim into an exsisting motorola c975 that i currently have on a "3" contract

    You could put the 3 sims into another 3 phone, however; the N70 will be locked to 3 and they either say they have not got the unlock codes (disagrement with Nokia?) or will charge in the region of £115 - £150 for the code. This model cannot be unlocked by codes/cable/hardware atm (apart from one person who does bulk).

    I don't think any N70's can be unlocked at the moment.

    If you buy the N70 on Orange you can request the unlock code from them direct - and it doesn't matter how many months you have got left on your contract.

    Previously hey used to inisist on your 12 months being up - it's changed recently. Cost for the code was £20 - arrived via letter in just over 7 days.

    I then used a 3rd party to re-flash my N70 to original (& latest) Nokia firmware - works a treat now.

    Lycrawear.. have you managed to get tomtom working on it??? I know people have had alot of issues with it!

    I have a O2 N70 which came unlocked (most O2 contract phones do) and I flashed it with generic Nokia firmware so it is faster now but it has serious issues with TomTom (the main reason I bought the phone) so it is sitting in a box upstairs and I am using an old unlocked 6630.

    Same here, i couldnt get tomtom to work on my n70 and that was reason i sent it back last month.

    the 3 sim will work in the moto ok
