Orange phone number/sim ~ payg

Hi all, I did try and search but didnt find an answer ~ so here goes...

I want to change my orange mobie phone number, due to personal circumstances. I am just wondering if it would be easier to phone orange and request another number (if in fact you can do that?) or just get another sim card? A new sim will cost me 97p on my package I am on just now.

Any help/explanations welcome
