Barclays £50.00 cashback

Hi newbie moneysaver here :j

I have been looking at this site for a while and picking up some great tips to moneysave so I was ready today when my contents insurance renewal quote came in. My cover is with Norwich Union ( whom I switched to from Barclays a few years ago ). The letter said RENEW TODAY BY DOING NOTHING but as I am learning from this site ' DOING NOTHING ' will not pay the bills!. So I went onto the 2 price comparison sites from this site and the saving would have been £20.00 annually - which is still a saving. Then I phoned Barclays and their quote was £15.00 more expensive than my renewal quote so they are going to match it ( well come in £1.00 lower ) and I will get a cheque for £50.00 - BARGAIN :T

Im happy - thanks money saving expert

Just phoned Barclays Car Insurance after getting an online quote for £290. My renwal with Elephant.co.uk was £200.14.
Barclays dropped their price to £199.14 AND are giving me a cheque for £50!!

    Fantastic!!
  • Just phoned for a quote and got turned down for buildings.
They tell me we are at risk of subsidance according to their records.
First I've ever heard of it! The house was build in 1903 so I would have thought its bedded in by now!
They don't like extensions or porches for some reason.
I wonder if they are wising up to the £50 offer and making it more difficult?
Or maybe I was unaware that I am in an area of possible subsidance.
Lived here for 14 years and none of my neighbours that I know of have had problems!
    Ho hum!

Well, I'm exstatic! Just called Barclays (whom I bank with anyway, so was advised months ago to call when my insurance was due) and they quoted me around £77.00 for contents, which was about £15.00 more than my Norwich Union renewal quote. So, they droped it to £60.99, with the £50.00 cash back! Pleased? Better believe it; my contents has cost me £10.99 for a year and the level of cover has increased!

Quote-me-happy? Not this year! lol! :D

Miserable gits won't price match wifes renewal - said disqualified as I made a claim (non fault, fully recovered). T&C's make no mentions of named drivers, just policyholder. Have complained, escalated to CEO, then ombudsman next. Kind of looking forward to it.

They wouldn't match my husband's renewal either as they said they could not lower their price more than £200. Where does it say that in their T&Cs?

Ignore me I've just found it! Does anyone know if you can apply for the price match offer through their website or do you have to do it over the phone?

you can only price match over the phone BUT if you go through Quidco you get £55 (assuming your registered with them otherwise its £5.00 to register )

My Norwich union quote was £239. got a barclaycard quote £169 on internet but remember to customise the settings I added legal cover, and reduced excesses to £75 and my quote came in at £188 less Quidco £55 = £133 for Buildings & contents
I also opted to pay by monthly D/D at no extra cost.

Im really pleased as Ive used Quidco for car insurance through LLoyds (best quote ) deducting money from Quidco I knocked £65 off my car renewal quote
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T
