Wow Lensman. That's an incentive to get debt free - if I ever needed one. No wonder people feel so trapped and hounded by them....
Save me from spending...

Age 34, Unsecured Debt ~£300 on visa, Secured Debt ~£82k, income £20k.
Will get rid of visa when fixed rate on mortgage finishes in 2 months, will save ~£230/mth!Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0 -
39 - Unsecured debt of £13K, income £53K, savings £1600 in various things - share save etc...
I am OK with my debt and happy to pay it off in the 4 years left on the loan... if I am fortunate to get any bonus in the future it will go into a deposit fund as in that catch 22 stage - no mortgage, not much savings and paying off debt will actually be worse! ;-)Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

I'm 27, salary £19,000, only debt is with the Student Loans Company at around £5,000.
I had to take a fairly chunky paycut last year and the student loan never used to bother me because I could see a decent sized repayment on my payslip every month, now it's down to c£30, I'm struggling not to repay it with my savings!0 -
