Nothing what i didn't expect! He didn't buy the warranty as car is less than 3 years old (BMW) Lets hope the main dealer can sort any problems out! Having said all this, the car was a good price (wonder why!)

They tend to sell you Gap Insurance, their cover will be about twice or three times what he can buy it on the internet on. If he has there is a 14 day cooling off period that he can cancel the gap without charge.

if the car is less than 3 years old then it should still be covered by manufacturer's warranty and that may help out if something major goes wrong. However the warranty doesn't cover the entire car and if carcraft are a nightmare to replace/repair anything not covered by BMW warranty, then you're looking at a repair bill(my local dealer charges around £90 per hour)

On the flipside i'd be wary about going back to them for any repair work for 2 reasons - firstly, i expect they'll inflate prices/invent unnecessary work/botch the repair. Secondly, any work they do may invalidate the BMW warranty (assuming the car is under BMW warranty due to age) since they're unlikely to be an approved BMW garage(a requirement for any repair work for the warranty to remain valid)

Get them to speak to BMW and you'll probably find that the warranty can be extended once the car hits 3 years old with BMW but if it lapses then it cannot be reinstated. My BMW had an approved usde car warranty and when i had it for about 11months i was offered an extended warranty but told that if it expired without extending, then it cannot be reinstated.

Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!

Has the car been serviced in accordance with the BMW schedule for the last 3yrs??

If not, BMW may not be too receptive if you go to them with a fault.

I would guess if Carcraft have got it to sell, it hasn't been serviced by the main dealer. Probably been givin the once over by the guy in a company MT pool.

It has one stamp in the service book, at 12000 miles when 14 months old. Non since. Currently at 19000 miles. 6 months left on 3 year warranty.

Around 12k miles in the 1st year, and only 5k in the last 1.5. Same owner for this period?. Classic sign of a car that has been shelved due to an accident. Try to get your mate to contact the original owner for an explanation.

Hope we are all being cynical, but then we are talking about carcraft.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
