Have my settings on Auto the other day I checked to see if I was up to date and it recommended that i download 1.0 service 3 halfway through it stopped and I had an error message something about bug? sorry cannot remember what but ever since then when i switch computer off it tells me updates are ready to be installed and if I do or if I don't when I switch computer on again I get the yellow shield on my task bar saying installing updates again but they never download? Will I be able to get my updates in the future or is this now blocking them? Can any one who answers please do it in the simplest of terms because I am not very good on the technical side of things even when I go to Microsoft help site I have trouble understanding it. Cheers

Try going to WINDOWS UPDATE (In the program list), and select CUSTOM
Manually attempt to install some of them through that and see how you get on:idea:0 -
or download it directly from microsoft:DCFC79 ~
Download SP3 direct from HERE
Stop EVERYTHING from running that you can (no open browsers, av software OFF etc)
Then attempt it

Shouldnt NEED to turn the firewall off but some can be problematic (comodos DEFENSE mode, Zonealarm, PCTOOLS)
But you can always disconnect from the net whilst you install anyways:idea:0 -
