I want to cancel my 3 contract - Advise needed

Hi for the last week or so I have been having problems with my phone. I can not make or receive calls. Everytime I try I get a message saying "Error in connection" or "Network busy"

I spoke to 3 customer services last Sunday, who told me that the signal was fine. I have tried my sim card in another phone which was fine. When I told them that it worked in another phone then I was told it must be a problem with my handset. My handset was then sent for repair and I have recevied it back today. Inspite of me having a letter from them saying the handset is fine I am still can not make or receive or make calls.

This situation is totally unacceptable to me. I need to be contactable at all times in my line of work.

I am sure I have read somewhere that you are able to cancel your contract ifyou have problems recieving signals etc.

Can someone please help me?

Cheers
Streets

You narrowed it down that it's the phone not the network at fault, another thing you can try is a different 3 sim in your phone, that will rule out their being a problem with your 3 sim in your 3 phone.

You don't state how long you are into your contract and what phone it is?

Guarantee you wont escape your contract without paying a termination fee though, as it's not a network/signal fault, sorry.

Most companies will repair the phone 3 times then do a like for like exchange of the handset.

Check that the back is on properly as there was an issue where the battery cover didnt sit properly and caused issues with the phone resetting settings and such so just check that. Of course im assuming its the 6500 slide, the classic version always seemed to be ok.

Best you try on a different identical handset if possible. Good way to trouble shoot. Your local 3 store might be able to assist

This is a network problem and 3 dont give a monkeys about it  for all those error in connection/ network busy failed calls you are still getting charged 1 min for them:eek: I and a few friends on 3 have been having the same problems that you mention for months and while the staff in the 3 shops couldnt be more helpfull there is only so much they can do. We were told the reason this was happening was there were masts down so we waited and recd a phone call saying they were fixed but i was still unable to call out it took sometimes 4 attempts to connect and my hubby was calling but going straight to voicemail:mad: with 3 kids at school and nursery it was unacceptable but 3 wouldnt budge. I called ofcom who said i should be able to cancel without penalty but 3 answer to that was go to ofcom get them to sort it:mad: by this time i had had enough and i was willing to pay just to get away from them, so got through to cancellations and spoke to a reasonable staff member who reduced the cancelation fee in half so i jumped at it and so glad i did.

MY daughters 3 contract (£10 a month 500 units) got stolen and they told me they would block a replacement phone that wasnt 3 branded so therefore forcing to buy a new phone with the cheapest being £69 which is about what im paying to get out of mine and my daughter can have my old 3 phone which is a better phone than i would have bought to replace and i have my nice new shiney phone on 02 whihc is crystal clear and connects first time;)

Good luck in your fight, i really hope you get a better result than i did but im happy now with my choices and glad to not have to deal with those muppets who when i went into find out why the replacemnt sim had not been sent out after 2 weeks there answer was it wasnt requested but when i couldnt get through on my phone to cancel/stop sim had to phone the shop to cancel and it was the shop who requested new sim:eek:
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Did you miss this?

  • Streets,

I have had a similar problem and when i phoned them and explain the 3 phone i had, they said it was down to the strength the signal can pick up. (Never!).

However, what they explained was that some of their phones pick up better/stronger signals than others. So it might be worth, asking them to send u a phone which is known to pick up a good signal for your area? Or go to a 3 Store near you?

Then if that fails, uve tried every avenue!!
