Problem With Talk Talk Broadband

Phoned Talk Talk on 20 2006 to take up their Broadband package as it was £12 a month cheaper than i was paying for BT yahoo.
Received the modem on 3 March, telephoned them today as i had received no other paperwork from them regarding start date etc or how to set up modem etc. I was told a welcome pack had been sent on 2nd March and should receive it by this Friday, we asked to cancel. Was told no as they had se up the line. When i queried the "cooling off" period i was told it was a £70 charge. Asked to speak to supervisor and told one would call me back in 48 hours.
Yet reading their t & c's i feel i am entitled to send this back as it is a "trial period".

Any advice gratefully received
Thanks in advance

As with a vast majority of broadband services they are subject to a 12 month contract. However if you signed up over the phone / internet then the distance selling regulations apply. As broadband is a service not a product you have a seven day cooling off period from the point of requesting the service. If they are charging £70, the most of this will be the activation charge from BT (£52.87) others could be admin charges, modem charges etc0

I've been with Talktalk for 10 months. Had no probs.... untill now.
DD went out on Feb. 23, had letter on 6 March telling me that I did not pay for Feb. Rang them up explaining that the bank had confirmed payment had been made & that it has appeared on my statement. Talktalk said my bank is wrong.
I offered to send talktalk a copy of the statement proving payment was made & a letter from the bank confiming that my statment was accurate.
Talktalk refused as they say that as payment was not made how could I have evidence of payment!!!!
Was told that I would be called "within 24 hours" to discuss further.
This was on Tuesday. I'm still waiting!!!
Am trying to speak to them now. Have been in a queue for nearly an hour.
My advise
Leave tham ASAP!!!!!0 -
