To be honest, as others have said, it's in the T&C. If someone can be dumb enough to blindly agree to a T&C without reading it then it's no surprise that these things happen. No fault but the OP's in this case. Unfortunate thing to happen, but the only way these things happen is when people carelessly sign contracts thinking they're all the same.

  • I was on orange, and I agree theres some charges that seem to appear out of nowhere

My first contract, it was the first contract I'd ever been on so was a little sceptical, she told me it was on prorata until my first billing date (that meant nothing to a 16 year old) so away I went with my so called unlimited texts and 500 minutes. Earned myself a nice little bill there.

Generally if you just use whats in your package your bills ok. If you go over your minutes they sting you, then add extra VAT to the call charges. They sting you for data unless you have a data package (I never did, something I wish I'd paid for though)

I found some of the time in my bills picture messages slipped by for free, but other times I was charged for calls even when i had minutes left. It was bizarre.

On my 2nd orange contract it started prorata again, I was more careful this time so didn't end up with a hefty bill, didn't go over by anything yet the bill came through supposed £35 but actually £45, ten quid of stuff I hadn't used so did some checking out, they'd charged me for dates I didn't even have the phone which never did get resolved and they'd humped a extra charge on the bill each month to send itemised bills.

To someone who was sending in the region of 3000 texts a month (dunno how I did it) itemised bills was a waste of time, it was like cutting down a tree just to send my bill out.

Didn't really have many problems, managed to switch down my minutes on best plan to save money, still ended up near £40 a month though from sending pic messages and using facebook.

My only real grievance was at the end of the contract, it was cut off in november, the day before my billing date. Now in my first contract when they cut it off I never recieved a bill afterwards it was just done. So in November wasn't expecting a bill, they'd closed down my account online and so I couldn't check if I owed them anything, was just a waiting game to see if anything would be taken out the back and they took £20.

Basically my advice for orange is read the small print, cut off what you dont need ie itemised bills, and just be careful what you use. I dunno what other companies are like but orange are pants for customer service.

Plus side being in 06 when I took my first contract out, we got out home broadband for a discounted £5 a month for unlimited internet.. that contract ended over 2 years ago and we're still only being charged £5 a month, so they may be useless, but at least it benefits in some ways :)
Just me, in my own little world

  • I've had a couple of billing issues with Orange, that were sotred out pretty quickly

Register your account online and you can download your bill as a PDF file.
I have bills on my external hard drive going back to 2004

I ALWAYS check my bills, you're daft if you don't.

You can check your usage online (through the My Account), dy dialing 150 , option 1, option 1, you can use your mobile browser and access 'your account' from your mobile (supposed to be free).
    baldly going on...

You will also have to be very careful about other tricks from Orange. Their favourite is to alter the terms of the contract in their favour putting the prices up and you will find buried in the contract terms that if you do not object within 10 days you are deemed to have accepted the new terms. So you can't go on a fortnights holiday! Don't trust them at all!

You can view your orange bill online youll need to register.

    https://services.orange.co.uk/sam/templates/web/sign_in_new.htm

Then you will get a text when your bill is available.

Plus is it essential to have the delivery report function enabled on your phone?

Im now waiting for Wildfire to come back to Orange and with them just buying out T-mobile they will have the largest coverage in the UK. So the price you pay will be worth while.
Wildfire is your own P.A she/he looks after your calls when your busy and takes messages also deals with your phone book. then she will call you saying you have messages. you can then talk to her handsfree and do everything you want. call them back listen to messages etc. plus when ya bored you can call her and tell her/he and they will come back with a whitty message to cheer you up. They had it once before but didnt completly understand different dialects. Now its new and improved and being launched soon. I think there is a one off fee to activate £10 then works through 123 voicemail. So good to have inclusive mins.

Is this a hope on your part, or actually true - I'd love to have wildfire back!
