I also know Wiltshire (for other reasons), but have never seen the White Horse (except glimpses on train journeys) but have seen the smaller one and a few other chalk symbols around that region/area. Life is very sacred/precious to me. Hence the Excalibur aspect. Protection of life. Whatever form that may take in modern times.
Evening Merlin,
Theres a pub in Derbyshire called Druid Inn . Supposed to be where they held ritual stuff....& stones & things outside.
`Life is precious, every day a gift`....don`t know who said that (a lyricist I think ) but reading your post just reminded me.0 -

Life is but a stream.
There, knew I'd go and do that. Started thinking 'waxing lyrical'. And poetry isn't something I really can master; easily. Or at all, TBH.
Beneath the elder tree
The stream of life flows
And from within new life grows
And new life begins anew
The cycle renews
Hmmm.
Very inspiring Merlin......fits in very well with Lensman`s excellent spring photo!0 -

And in other news ... I intend to use Ebay for a holiday somewhere later in the year. Something to aim for now I think. In the UK, of course. It is that time when I must again explore/travel. Don't really like being in just the one place, like to move around. But stuck for now. But I know that will not always be. So, a holiday, is on the cards as of today.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Good to here that you are planning a holiday Merlin. Ebay seems busy at the moment...great way to get a bit of holiday money!!!!
You will have to start planning all the places that you really want to see in the UK. Often the most undiscovered places are the most interesting though!0 -
Part of me wants to return to Scotland, the Shetlands particularly or somewhere that is just 'old'. Or along the south west coast (again) which also has a pull for me. Childhood, you see, mostly that is/was. Holidays down there. Expect I won't even recognize Ebay and dread to think what has changed since I was last on there.
Tin Tagel was once on the cards to visit. Except someone told me it was quite a trek and also Land's End. Already been to the furthest northerly tip in the UK (pub on the farthest northern tip you can go by road on the Shetlands; now that WAS a really old place let alone public house; it had 'atmosphere' shall we say) a good long while now. Probably been concreted over this last quarter of a century no doubt. And condemned as a health and safety fire hazard; given it was made of really, really old wood/stone. It will likely be in the last quarter of the year. Love autumn.

New Ebay took some getting used to for me.....I `lost` 2 sales that had been put in deleted sales for some reason.....got it sorted eventually!!
South coast is lovely....albeit a little over commercialised in places (Lands End/Stonehenge etc) you should take a `road trip` all along the coastline!!!.0 -
Tell me about it. Just reading what I was on the boards over there last year was enough. Used to have those duplicate listing glitches myself once. Particularly when you relisted something then went back to look and suddenly you had thrice more listings than last time you looked. Had to delete individually. Fortunately, no one had buyed it now or bid on them.
Funnily enough, the idea of going back to Scotland (no idea why because it has no real connections to me and I used to hate travelling there as a child with my parents/family; until it grew on me over time) was tied into one of those short coach trip breaks you can get cheaply. Along the coast, highlands. Just things I have to see.
Oh, yes, Stone Henge and a friend went to Lands End last year. In Plymouth I have seen one of the oldest houses, which was also moved from one street to another. And I like the ginnels (not sure why I used that word just then but seemed appropriate) surrounding Exeter Cathedral is like walking into a page out of Shakespeare. Or that era. Always pop in when I am there. As a child, used to see it in my parents car but never went in it until 2003.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Right, well it's time to go catch up with what Sylar is doing in Heroes and eat that bag of cheesy melty crispy things I like and some of the mint choc chip ice cream. If I don't see you later this morning, I will bid thou goodnight.
