Funnily, but if I 'forget' what day it is, and didn't show up to work.......I'm sure I wouldn't be paid either!

That's my thoughts too! It's good training for when you get a job because an employer would certainly 'pounce' and justifiably so if you 'forgot' to turn up for work!

    I failed to sign-on yesterday.

I attend a kind of job search/club via the chamber of commerce, which usually happens the day after I sign-on. The date was changed to Tuesday instead, and it through me.

I sent all day Wednesday thinking it was Tuesday (didn't help that I'd had a week of sleepless nights due to this flamin chesty cough).

Anyway, just got back from signing on. I was told they would referred to independent decision maker, and I could expect to hear from them within the next two weeks. I was also informed that I could lose a weeks benefits.

    :(

I'm not in panic mode just yet! I'll wait to see if I receive my normal payment this weekend.

Personally I hope you do lose a weeks benefits. People like you get genuine claimants a bad name.

You have to turn up to sign on at a set date and could not be bothered. You only have yourself to blame.

Well a couple of harsh comments there guys. I feel I got to defend myself a little here as not everything in this world is so Black & White.

when all you have to do to get your money is sign on once a fortnight.......its a pretty lame excuse to say you couldnt remember what day it was! n

Pretty close minded comment there nannytone! What makes you think that 'signing on once a fortnight' is ALL I have to do. I'm a single parent, in the process of starting my own business, and also actively searching for work.

There were many extenuating circumstances that caused me to forget which day it was. I've been unemployed for 2 years and in that time, this is the only time I've ever been late signing on.

If I had to sign-on 5 days a week, I'd not 'forget' ever.

If you missed a day at work, you'd expect to lose a days pay, not a whole weeks!

I fully expect to lose a days benefits, and deservedly so. Losing a whole weeks benefits would be unfiar, and benefits no one.

    Finally, lol

basically, you're an idiot :rotfl:where in my post did I say I couldn't be bothered to sign on.

I take full responsibility for missing my sign-on time, but let the punishment fit the crime.

Well I got that off my chest!

  • I take no notice of a fair few posters on this forum.
They get a kick out of winding people up, and offer no useful advice to anyone.
