Who supplies B&Q granite work surfaces?

Hav e you tried getting a quote directly from a granite company, we found the full granite wasn't much more than B&Q wanted to charge us for the 3cm stuff.
We used Cardiff Marble, but there are loads of companies across the country, ours came out, measured up, did templates then came back and fitted all within the original price.

As my above post, I've got the 4cm black sparkly B&Q stuff in my own kitchen and I'm more than happy with it after 2.5 years there isn't a scratch on it. Ultimately, 3cm or 4cm it doesn't matter - 3cm you can boast that it's solid, 4cm you can pretend it is, lol!
I'll see what the 3cm looks like in one of our own kitchens later on this week!
Thanks Doozergirl, you gave me some good advice on here when we were 'moving', so now im 'improving' you are here again for me:j
You will be able to do a very good comparison if you have 4cm at home, and will be having 3cm fitted in another place.
I saw the black sparkly quartz years ago in B&Q, but felt it was way out of my league (one of those 'when I win the lottery' moments). But whether its come down in price, or we have a bigger budget, it seems just within reach, but its a BIG expense and I dont want any regrets.
We are hopefully going to live here for many years, and it would be lovely to have it if I can get it right!0 -
I have been looking for granite worktops for a little time now as it seems very expensive at first. I got a quote from Magnet as part of my kitchen and was shocked at the amount for standard black granite.
I started looking for granite worktops online and found it hard to find a trusted company. I have found a company called Stone Masters seem to have the most transparent online quote system and a friend of mine used them recently and they were excellent.
The main thing is that they were practically half the price! Seems too good to be true but they seem genuine. Then again it seems similar to what premkit says. I am going to try them out. Wish me luck!0 -
I,ve been quoted £1900 plus VAT for 5 metres of Absolute Black granite including installation and the cut out for the sink & drainer, Do you think that is reasonable?0

I'm looking at getting a composite worktop as I'd like an undermounted sink that looks like it's moulded into the worktop. However B&Q are quoting £999 just for the sink:
WORKTOPS
2 0000003880531 3880531 GLACIER COL MATCHED ADHESIVE 64.00
1 0000003880838 3880838 SOLID SURFACE INSTALLATION KIT 99.00
1 0000003880845 3880845 SOLID SURFACE MAINTENANCE KIT 49.00

32 1 0000003880548 3880548 GLACIER 1.5 SINK WITH DRAINER L 999.00
1 0000003880432 3880432 GLACIER WORKTOP 1.8M 329.00
1 0000003880432 3880432F GLACIER WORKTOP 1.8M 329.00
1 0000003880425 3880425 GLACIER WORKTOP 3M 579.00
Anyone know of some alternatives I can use - there's a place called Domostone n Slough near me but I think they only do Granite which means I can't have the moulded look.
To mould or not to mould? Help!

Have a chat with these people - http://bespokesurfaces.co.uk/default.aspx
They do composite tops - Corian, Hi-Macs etc.
This stuff isn't cheap, anything with molded sinks such as these resin based materials are now generally more expensive than Granite or Quartz.
The Firm that does B&Q work is PWS who will supply trade only so there's no chance of getting them to deal direct.0 -
Thanks Alan
I think I might end up going granite with an undermounted sink - it looks like it could be cheaper and granite will probably be better than earthstone or equivalent in the long run.
Now just to find a local worktop specialist where I can go and see the set-up and worktops!0 -

Just spoke to bespokesurfaces (mentioned you!) and they sounded very helpful and are sending me an estimate quote0 -
Glad to hear they are helpful, they are one of my customers - we just have nothing to do with the resin products but i've seen their work and it really is top notch.0

Just found a local company online and am going to visit them next week. Do you supply them as well?
