ad aware se definition files

I still use Ad-Aware SE edition and I usually manually update the definition files by visiting the site and downloading the latest definition files for the SE edition, but when I visited the site tonight there was a message stating that “from 1st April we no longer support Ad-Aware SE definition files” which I suppose is fair enough as the SE edition is quite an old program ( I have other anti-spyware programs which I use but I also like to use Ad-Aware SE as it’s a neat little program), but my question is - my definition files are 25 days out of date so where can I find the last definition file update for SE before lavasoft stopped supporting it – I cant find it on the lavasoft site anywhere and I would like my old SE program as much up to date as possible, also do you think lavasoft will start supporting SE again by public demand.
many thanks

Have you got the latest version? http://www.filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/ have you tried updating it though the program instead of manually?
Try Malwarebytes and superantispyware their much better not just cookie finders.0 -
Its because you have the old version http://www.lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/company/blog/adaware-se-updates-discontinued
Ad-ware anniversary http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
I would still recommend using Malwarebytes along side it if you don't already.0 -
yes thanks I already have super antispyware and malaware bytes but I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could find the last definition file that lavasoft released for the SE edition as its a neat program and has a faster scan than most other programs - and it sometimes still finds tracking cookies even after a super antispyware and malaware bytes scans.thomas01155 wrote: »Its because you have the old version http://www.lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/company/blog/adaware-se-updates-discontinued

I dont fancy the latest ad aware program, I tried the ad aware 2007 edition and found it to be a slow bloated program which insisted on using 20 megs of memory in the background even when I wasn't using it (something about it being initilised when windows start to stop spyware programs switching it off or something) but the SE program offers a fast scan and doesn't use up resources when its not in use and its only 2 meg in sizethomas01155 wrote: »Have you got the latest version? http://www.filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/ have you tried updating it though the program instead of manually?

Tracking cookies are harmless they can be wiped in a few seconds.0

I use Spybots IMMUNISE feature to keep most dodgy cookies at bay:idea:0

yep got spybot too - by the way is spybot any good - spybot search and destroy has never found anything on my computer, is it actually worth having it ?
As I said ~ it actually PREVENTS a lot of popups and cookies. The call is yours. But I personally wouldnt bother with ad aware as its useless next to malwarebytes and SAS:idea:0 -
yes I know that tracking cookies won't really harm my computer and are easy to remove but I don't like the idea of people/company's looking over my shoulder when I am surfing the internet.thomas01155 wrote: »Tracking cookies are harmless they can be wiped in a few seconds.
my internet surfing habits are not illegal, just private.0 -
oh right that makes sense thanks alien, I will keep spybot and its IMMUNISE feature then, I use adaware se in addition to other products, in your opinion alien what is the new ad aware anniversary program like, is it any better than ad aware 2007, or is it a resource hog too ?As I said ~ it actually PREVENTS a lot of popups and cookies.
