Family move into hotel to save money - would you consider it?

Did anyone see the story in The Sun today about the family considering renting out their flat and moving into a Express by Holiday Inn hotel - just because it's cheaper?!
Interesting to see how they worked it all out - according to the article it says living in the hotel will save them £20 a day
Have to say I'd be quite tempted to do that - saving some cash while having a holiday? Sounds good to me
What does everyone else think? Would you consider it?

Nightmare. Cheap hotels are often noisy, in noisy locations and about an practical for a family as a shoebox.0

There was another story a while back about a pensioner couple living in a Travel Lodge and it only cost them something like £450 a month.
You get all the cleaning done for you and free linen, but where do you keep your belongings? And what do you do for meals, there's nowhere to cook.0 -
I would do it if it were cheaper, or about the same, but the hotels offering a discount aren't ever anywhere near where I'd want to be. And, being a sole occupant, the cost is 4x on a per person basis so it works out pricey.
To be worthwhile for me the room would have to be £15/night and it would be a most unusual occurrence for one to actually be that much.0 -

Pot noodle.
You can heat soup in a travel kettle. (A !!!!!! to clean though!)
I'm sure if you had a cooker ring in your room they'd stop you though.
My neighbour goes and has a hot meal at the supermarket cafe virtually every day. Probably a lot less hassle than cooking for himself.0 -
There's no washing machine either.
And no letterbox.0 -

Use a laundrette for the washing and get a PO Box for the post?
Be ok for a few weeks, but after that...
(especially if it is a family in one room!)

People have been living permanently in hotels for many years, usually retired and on south coast. Remember the Major and the 2 old ladies in "Fawlty Towers", all 3 permanent residents and characters probably loosely based on real people. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

How about £9 per night per room with Travel Lodge when they have their sales?A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -

True I have handled a number of hotel/guest house sales where there is a permenent resident or two included in the inventory.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. I hope it's not the Holiday Inn Express I stayed in with worms in the damp carpet and lots of lovely silverfish and woodlice sharing the bathroom...yuck.0
