Hi I was stupid enough to download the beta IE8 and it caused no end of problems. I contacted microsoft and the technician spent almost half a day removing that and leaving me with IE7 and he checked my laptop thoroughly.
I have tried to upload photos to no avail.
I had a look in my devices and found that no camera exists and instead of the Cannon MC370 that was on my laptop, I now have a Xerox Work Centre Pro Scanner. I have never had such a scanner and I have no idea how it got on my laptop or where my scanner has gone. When I tried to install my camera it will only give me Kodak as a choice - my camera is a finepics A800.
Can anyone help me please?
Thanking you in anticipation.

Can anyone tell me how the Xerox got on my computor?
I have emailed Microsoft - the technician that sorted the IE problem.
I think he must have removed my camera and scanner and put the zerox on for some reason.0 -
Yes and you are scaring me now......................what have I done?0

Well so long as it was a legit microsoft technician you should be fine. I just dont understand what he would have done to wipe out the settings like he has which is what concerns me
Did you watch everything he did?:idea:0 -
He was a microsoft technician I was on the phone with.
I did watch but as you may have guessed - I am not at all technical.
All I know is two days before he entered my laptop I upload photos to the laptop with no problems and I also know that a canon mc370 was in residence on my laptop and now they are gone leaving this stranger in their place.
I have email the technician and his boss (he emailed thanking me for the nice things I said) but will not get a reply until after tuesday at least.
Someone told me to delete the xerox but I am loathe to do that as I want Microsoft to see it on my laptop.
When you have finish laughing at how stupid I am - I don't mind, do you think he would have access to my laptop all the time?0 -
Hi I was stupid enough to download the beta IE8 and it caused no end of problems.
Then you ABSOLUTELY should not be downloading beta software.I am not at all technical.?
Beta=unfinished...may cause problems...may break your installation...may cause loss of data
Beta doesn't = Better ...check the spelling for clues

Im not laughing kate ~ just concerned. Im kinda baffled as to how from just removing IE8 he managed to change the settings
And he cant have access to you lappy all the time no. Youd have to physically let him each time.
Im sure he'll sort it out for you (Again ~ assuming he IS a legit microsoft technician):idea:0
