no catch, great isn't it. if you go to clubcard deals you can spend them in other ways too. I'm saving mine for florida at the mo. the holdiday will be around £2500 with virgin. I've got about £150 in vouchers which works out at £600 off the holdiday. I can probably do another 10000 cc points this quarter, so in the next 12 months if i keep going its free!!

Hiya, I have just got into collecting clubcard points too and out of interest how are you managing to collect 10,000 points in 1 quarter????????? I am lucky to get about 1,000?

    Welcome to the Forum !

Basically you need more than one clubcard account. In my case I have one in my name, one in my wifes name (she had it before we got married) and we have a Joint Tesco Platinum Credit Card which in itself is a clubcard. You can only use each online code once per Account. Each Clubcard Account is set up with a different online email address to keep them all seperate.

    So, for example

at the moment there are 3 online codes out there :

XX-RPJD (1500 points when you spend over £100 online) (no longer works - you have to be quick!)
XX-PFWT (750 points when you spend over £50 online) (works fine)
XX-T696 (750 points when you spend over £75 online) (no longer works)

Now these codes are valid until around 10th Oct 2006 so if you took one shop per week you can get in around 7/8 shops before they expire.
Let me give you a made up example of

WEEK, AMT SPENT, CLUBCARD ACC, CODE, POINTS
    Week 1 £105 ME XX-RPJD 1500
    Week 2 £55 ME XX-PFWT 750
    Week 3 £55 WIFE XX-PFWT 750
    Week 4 £78 ME XX-T696 750
    Week 5 £110 WIFE XX-RPJD 1500
    Week 6 £57 JOINT XX-PFWT 750
    Week 7 £107 JOINT XX-RPJD 1500
    Week 8 £82 WIFE XX-T696 750

So just from online codes we have made 8250 points. But there is more!

Now lets take a look at week 1, I also got 105 points for spending £105 at Tesco. I also got another 105 points through using my Tesco (Plat) Credit Card to pay the bill. So you are looking at nearly another 1000 points over the 8 weeks there.

In the course of a quarter my wife or I (ok, my wife! :A ) will do the odd manual shop in Tesco, normally to use up the little points coupons that you get sent from time to time from the Tesco Clubs and mailings.

So we are now at 10,000 points.

There are also lots of other ways out there to earn points such as recycling mobile phones/ ink cartridges or using partner products (I stay at Marriott Hotels on business so I get quite a few Tesco points from them for that)

There are also some offers that Tesco do which savy savers on MSE realise are stacked in our favour - such as ipod shuffles that cost £47 odd quid but you got 999 points with each one, so people were buying them by the truckload and selling them on ebay. They might have only sold them for £30 thus losing £17 but £17 for 999 points (or £39.96 in deals vouchers) still makes good sense. Sometimes you will see people with massive points balances. You'll find they probably did this sort of thing, but remember they probably paid out a fair bit to get that many points so don't feel that your points total is inferior by trying to collect points the old fashioned way.

I also bulk bought a load of wine when they had 1200 points when you bought 12 bottles of wine codes - but thats not something I do regularly.

Anyway, going back to my example, I hope you can now see how, with a bit of clever shopping (bulk buying long life products etc to get up to that minimum spend), by using a few different clubcard accounts and most of all, keep a close eye on the MSE board for tips (like the ipods) or new points codes, you can get your points balance up towards 10,000 in no time.

And a quarter is 13 weeks, not the 8 in my example, so you can see how this would add up if other codes came out :-)

*TOP TIP FOR PEOPLE WANTING TO USE CODES WHO SPEND UNDER £50 EACH WEEK*

This may seem obvious, but if you find that you do not spend enough in a week to get to the minimum spend for the online codes (by far the best source of points), why not get together with a friend? If each of you only spends say £30 in a week, you'll never get to use the 750 point online codes, but if you got together for 2 weeks, the first week you could order both your shopping on your account, and the second week they could order both your shopping on theirs. So you would end up with 750 points each after two weeks, and you would be sharing the delivery cost!

Please let me know when you break through the 10,000 points in a quarter barrier - I'm sure it won't be that far away!

Hope this mail helps you and anyone else new to this.

you have to use more than one clubcard account. you can register one per e-mail address, so in theory you could have one, so could your oh. I use 4. you can then use a code several times.

never merge your account and always make sure you register for all the clubs so you get separate mailings. the you can swap coupons and points at

when you shop online and use one of the extra points codes, say 750 points when you spend over £50 online, does the grand total have to be over £50, or can you build up on bogof 's and have a sub total of over £50 and then the grand total comes under £50. will i still get the 750 points, or does my grand total have to be over £50?

Its before bog offs are taken off.

    Eg

    BOGOF Offer of Nappies

You buy 6 x nappies at £10 per pack.

When you check out online it will say

    £60 + Delivery Charge.

Hence you CAN use the over min spend £50 (750 points) code.
When it actually turns up on your door, the BOGOF will show up on your invoice and reduce your bill by £30 - so you only actually spend £30 + delivery ;)

Delivery is not part of the minimum spend. So always make sure you have spent over £50 to get the code to work, then add delivery on top of that.

Most people also order around 10% more than the minimum spend, as if they do not have some of your order, they will reduce down the bill, if it drops below £50 (before discounts) - you will NOT get the points added.

I tried the 1500 points voucher and it didn't work. Will try the 750 tomorrow with a revised basket. Took me ages to get to £100 too...

Have not tried the 1500 yet, but I did do an order for > £50 yesterday for delivery next Wed using code XX-PFWT (750 points when you spend over £50 online) and it was fine.

In future, put in 10 bottles of whisky first to get over desired minimum spend then go to checkout to see if the code will work - if it does then go back and change order - if not then you have not wasted hours building up a large shopping list ;)

EDIT - Just tried the 1500 and you are correct, it does not accept it. I wonder if it is the date - I tried order of £175 and it still was not accepting it? I tried the other two 750 points ones and they work fine.
