Problem extending Sky cable

I've rearranged our living room this week, and already have spare cable/connectors. I've connected it all up, and the sky box doesn't receive a satellite signal. I've checked enough of the copper wire is peeking out the middle, and that the connectors are done up tightly, and I've used 2 different cables, but still not working. When the original sky cable goes in the back, it works.
Ideas anyone?

You also need to ensure that the screen on the coax is connected.
The F connector is designed to screw over the screen. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I assume that you are using " f " connectors and a back to back " f " type connector for your extension?
None of the outer must touch the inner core, if it does ( a ) it will not work, and ( b ) you could cause some damage, there is a very low voltage that passes along this cable.
Make sure nothing is touching and that you have the "f " connector screwed on tightly.0 -
Thanks, I'm going to try again, and follow these instructions I found online. I may well have not had the screen connected too. Hopefully that will work.
Cheers guys, I'll let you know if it works! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Yay! it works!
Thanks guys. I hadn't got the 'f' connector over the copper screen - I'd just cut the cable down, and pushed the f connector over the rubber casing. It's now working a treat, and my BF thinks I am a technical genius! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
