Talk talk connection

Inactive,
hardly relevant then is it?
I find if the connection is slow/off then remove the POWER leaf for 10 secs normally does the job
still better then NTL/Virginmedia cowboys though
It is " relavant " in showing that not all connections drop out on a regular basis like Talk Talk's clearly do.
It is evident that some users think that this poor service is normal and acceptable.0 -
I have been with talk talk for years and ive never been disconnected or anything untoward and ive no reason to think they wouild do so either, , i think these are only fables people use to explain other problems, ive had no trouble whatsoever with my connection, we are connected almost 24/7 with desktop and also 3 laptops which my sons use.0

My Dads having problems at the moment, despite having had no trouble for over a year. The connection just keeps dropping as an when. I suspect the router but they have kept him on the phone for hours going through the settings etc. It does then appear to be okay for a day or so but then drops out. Last time it did I connected my netgear router with his log on details in and it was connected straight away. Reconnect the Talktalk supplied one and again no connection. But talktalk will not have it that it is the router at fault. (less than a year old was using usb one previously)0

That would drive me up the wall... my connection hasn't been down for more than 2 minutes in over 2 years, no speed slow downs either, but then I am not with Talk Talk.;)
By all means I have had a dodgy connection a 4-5 and total loss of connection once in 3 years. For £20 a month I get broadband/phone line/unlimited calls.
To cancel because I have had a few small problems would be silly as I would then have to spend twice as much to get the same deal elsewhere.
To me it is a case of you get what you pay for, I pay very little and get a good service. I could spend more and get an amazing service.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

What router are you using?
I have talktalk & don't expereince any disconnections other than the ones that I instigate myself i.e. when I reboot my netgear router. I did have issues with an old router purchased from Maplins and had some long conversations with talktalk tech services about caping my speed (I live a long way from the exchange). When I had finally dropped the speed TT were giving me to 256k and was still having issues, I began to wonder whether it was my modem/router. A quick trip to Comet to buy a new Netgear router & my connection is rock-solid.
If you know anybody who can lend you a newish router, you might want to swap your existing one out to test whether it is faulty.
My olnly criticism abot talktalk is that the queue length can be long when calling, but if you can call durig the daytime, its usually a lot shorterChris Elvin0 -
I have a decent linksys router with the most updated firmware etc, nothing old.
I must say sometimes a router reset seems to sort it so it could be more one bad moment sends my router a bit funny until reset.
As mentioned for free broadband its great, the fact it works 99.9% of the time is more than enough for me.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Interesting. I'm in Manchester and over the last two weeks my connexion has dropped at about 8pm every night. Given that I go to bed around 9 and the children aren't in bed until 7.30, this is really annoying and I'm about to give them a ring.....
And I've always found it best to leave my router on permanently because when I switch it off it sometimes takes ages to find a stable connexion.
Let's see what they say. What good's the sky when you have no days to watch it by?0 -
Hi Guys,
As there are a few posting about broadband problems and drop outs here I think the best thing to do is divert anyone that wants their connection looking at to https://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums. If you create a post in the broadband section we will be able to take a look at things for you on a case by case basis as what may apear to be a simular problem at face value usually turns out to be something completely different. It would get extreemly confusing for all involved if we attempted to help everyone in one thread with your different issues.
Cheers

I'm in Scotland. Don't often use my connection in the evenings but when I do, I have the same problem but at about 7pm. I am sure it is something to do with the number of people all trying to use the service (contention ratio?) I've contacted Talktalk and there are "no known issues in your area". So how come it's happening???? My 18 months is up at the end of this month and I'll likely move.0 -
Hi bcl999,
Please see my post above. We will have more account visability through the official forums rather than here. I've PM'd you also.“Official Company Representative
