is that true about dropping the connection nightly?
im with talk talk and i dont think ive turned the modem off for about a year, apart from when on holiday.
would you suggest turning it off when i go to bed, then turning it back on in the morning.
thankyou
(may save a bit of electric too would it??)0 -
Hi Livelyred,
Are you still experiencing problems?
Cheers

I have had this problem for a few weeks now - It comes on then I seem to lose connection and then it comes back if I restart or sometimes just wait.
Glad to hear it's probably not me but a wider problem - Karin0 -
I find that phoning them up is normally a waste of time and just gets you frustrated. Although, having said that, I called about a lost connection last week from my Mum's system and while I was on the phone, all became instantly sorted out (it had been off for 6 hours) while I was on the phone.
Interesting to hear you say that. I have had broadband with talktalk previously (not anymore thankfully) and have experienced the same phenomenon. It is my theory that talktalk have massively oversubscribed themselves during their initial marketing boom and are now struggling to manage all their subscribers. I believe that one of their techniques is to randomly drop connections to allow new users to connect leaving the original user unable to connect for some amount of time. My theory is strengthened by the fact that on many occasions my connection will start working again while I'm on hold to Customer Support. It certainly feels like they vet the incoming phone numbers and connect you before they talk to you hoping that you'll just hang up or they can tell you there's nothing wrong by the time you actually get to talk to someone.
Like I say, this is just a theory of mine based on circumstance not substance.0 -
All ok now thanks i phoned talk talk up shortly after wards they told me to take the netgear yellow cable out for 10 seconds then put back in that worked.TalkTalk_Company_Representative wrote: »Hi Livelyred,

livelyred, it sounds like you've been duped. That yellow cable has nothing to do with your connection to talk talk and removing it for 10 seconds will not make any difference. Perhaps it gives the support person 10 seconds to reconnect you while making it look like the problem was at your end and not theirs. Just a thought...All ok now thanks i phoned talk talk up shortly after wards they told me to take the netgear yellow cable out for 10 seconds then put back in that worked.0 -
I seem to have had the same trouble with Talktalk several times and it always happens at bank holidays. I'm sure I suffered with it last Easter and again at Christmas or New Year holiday.
Someone somewhere must be doing maintenance over bank holiday periods when commercial traffic is low. It may not actually be Talktalk, but one of the companies that route or carry the internet signals.
I'm sure that TT must be given notice that it will happen though, so surely they could advise us poor customers so that we know that the problem lies with them and not us. I just leave it alone now and wait for the system to come back on again - I know it's not my computer if it happens at weekends or bank holidays.0 -
I have been with Talk Talk a good while and it loses connection sometimes. I just find something else to do.
The downtime is never too long and to be honest with the price I am paying I expect a lot more problems than I currently get.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

That would drive me up the wall... my connection hasn't been down for more than 2 minutes in over 2 years, no speed slow downs either, but then I am not with Talk Talk.;)0 -
Inactive,
