orange discounts taken away

I have just completed an 18 month contract with orange. It was racoon 25, discounted from £25 to £10 per month. I rarely used the whole minutes and almost never had any extra spend. At the end of the 18 months orange has removed the discounts (without any notification), leaving me with a £25 bill. I phoned retentions to ask for the £10 to be extended on a rolling contract. Retentions have offered me sim only (no handset upgrade) £15 per month and won't shift any further. I'm not bothered about the handset, but for the last 18 months orange have provided the deal, now they say cannot. I've asked for a PAC and it seems as though orange would prefer to lose the customer entirely rather than continue the existing package. Any ideas?

Discounts are generally only applied for the length of the contract, as you came out of contract then the discount did fall off correctly. Because you've had a discount and your spend has been so low, that is why they cannot offer you anything as you're not really a profitable customer to them at the moment. That's the problem with retentions deals.

Thanks MRC. I'll just take the PAC and go elsewhere, that will be even less profitable for orange.
