help - watching programmes on laptop

I know my internet connection is tenuous, but over the past couple of weeks I have tried to watch some programmes I have missed on BBC I player and Channel 4. Its virtually impossible to watch a programme without it stopping after about every 30 seconds. On I Player I have downloaded some programmes but it can take many many hours. Channel 4 doesnt seem to give that option.
I am not at all technical, and even watching live tv is so painful.
Can I do anything to make it better please?

today I have tried to watch something at least 6 times, I got 20 mins into it, and now there are no pictures just volume. A warning came up saying something like R300 driver...........blocked or missing!
Its so frustrating, can anyone help0 -

If you think it's bad, then that could be your problem.
Do you know what speed you're paying for?
What results do you get if you do a couple of these speedtests :
Speedtest.net & BT Speedtest?
If you're getting error messages, it'd be helpful if you could post the full message.

it says driver display has stopped working0
-
You done the speed test yet0

Hi, I am not really sure what to post, where do I begin0
-
both of those links are requiring different things, one says downloading this program may cause damage to your computer, and the other is requiring a plug in0
-
On the Speedtest.net link, just click on the gold star on the map.
The BT speedtest requires Java, but this test will show you what speed your line is configured for and the actual speed you're getting.
What ISP do you use?Dave. :wave:0 -
download Mbs = .49
ping = 92ms
upload = .36 Mbs
primus is the ISP
hope it means something0 -
.49 means you're getting less than ½ a meg download.
Do you know what you're paying for? Is it a 512K connection or an up to 8 meg connection?
I saw on the Primus website that they have different products. I presume it's a business connection?Dave. :wave:0 -
Use the BBC download service rather than trying to watch them with streaming.0
