I used to recommend AVG to people, but this last 6 months I've had a lot of problems with updates so I changed to Avast, so far I'm impressed with it so it gets my vote.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

I'm thinking of uninstalling AVG in favour off Avast. Had no problems but it does appear to slow down my laptop, or at least I think it does.
Could anyone tell me if Avast has the "AVG feature" of when you google something and all the list of sites appear on the page with usually a tick (rarely, but sometimes a cross) signalling a "safe" site. Is it called a Link Scanner?
It actually says: "This page contains no active threats" next to each option as long as its found to be safe.0 -

You can use Mcafee's site advisor http://www.siteadvisor.com/0 -
Thanks for that. I assume it wouldn't have any compatability issues if running alongside Avast, ie sluggishness etc?You can use Mcafee's site advisor http://www.siteadvisor.com/0 -

I didn't. I decided to go for it and try it out before switching to Avira or something else, and it just upgraded. I was running AVG 7, downloaded 8.5 and installed it. No problems whatsoever, except that I found that the AVG scanning took hours, but then I've only done it once.
Good luck.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
