Will halfords fit any stereo?

My son-in-law worked for Halfords and they got really !!!!ed off when people would buy a Mothercare baby seat, then take it round to Halfords to fit it. The mums would chat up the young lads who would do it for nothing. AFAIK their policy is supposed to be to fit only what they supply, which is surely fair enough.

We have an MG ZR and it has a nice Sony stereo in but we want a usb or mp3 type one. I know someone who can do it but last car they did we had nothing but trouble so don't really want to go down that rd again! will ask my local garage if need be as need something small doing anyway so can get all done at once.

Wanted to say aswell that onviously i would pay at Hlafords for it to be done if it wasn't bought from there, not expecting a freebie!

alot of stereos are all wired the same on the back...is there no males in the family that might have a look , its a 15min job for anyone thats got a clue

If it already has an after market stereo it should be very easy to replace, as the plugs on the back will be the same.

From my own personal experience yes they will fit any stereo as long as it is badly

Hi not sure if it is the factory fitted one or not,,how would i tell? I have no idea obviously and dh hasn't the time or inclination either so easier and quicker to pay someone else to do it! if that makes us dumb so be it! Plus if they do a rubbish job i will be straight back demanding it is done again!

post up what model number and brand is has printed somewhere on the front

id suggest finding a local auto electrician or car audio shop , halfords really arent very good at anything

I presume it is aftermarket, as Rover/MG always used to use Phillips equipment.

If you don't want to do it yourself just look for a small garage, most will do it for a few quid.

Or you could ask that bloke down the road who always seems to be working on one car or another (most estates have someone like this). I had my car fixed by a bloke like this, the garage quoted over £200, the bits cost me £30 and he did it for a crate of lager, and it was more than fitting a stereo.

Well went over today and decided we wanted the Sony one which is usb and aux, they had them but wanted £20 fitting (down from £40)..decided it was a rip off as we already had a sony and figured it wasn't that hard to do so pushed my luck and asked the lad to come out and see the one we already had, he came out and said 'oh go on ill do it for free'..result! flattering your eyelashes always works!! so lovely stereo for £88 down from £179!..works really well so far and sound fab so really pleased!
