Minor Car Body Repairs - How Much?????

Hi,

I have just got a new secondhand car and it has a couple of marks that I want to correct, but just want a rough idea of cost before I take to garages etc.

The first blemish is a paint chip on the drivers door - just below the key hole. It looks like a couple of layers have come off as the chip looks fairly deep.

The second blemish is a dent to the front drivers wing. About 1.5 inches long in a v shape. The paint doesn't look cracked or damaged here.

Can anyone please indicate what I should expect to pay

many thanks all

    Hi Jazzycat,

You will probably get more replies on the motoring board, so I'll move your thread over there for you.

the dent will probbably cost you around £60 to sort out.
Try the yellow pages for some paintless dent removal companies.

    thanks khizman.

Do you think it would be cheaper to get the jobs done separately then?

The dent wont be too much of a big problem to be honest. Paint chip will be slightly more of a problem if you want it done properly. Any local garages around you? Little friendly garages?

    thanks burbs.

I do have a couple - I'll give them a visit at the weekend.
I was hoping that I could get both done for £100 or so

    thanks

Paint chip try chipsaway, or the yellowpages,
local garages will probbably not use pdr, hence a high price.

try ringing around with the yellow pages and see!

I think £100 is feasible as long as the paint isn't too bad. A specialist will do a localised repair. I've seen a localised repair and paint (metallic) on a front bumper done for £60 and it was an excellent job. Add another £50 or so for a dent to be removed, and you're on for just over £100.

It's all down to the specific person doing the work, and how bad a dent is (a crease will take some work to get looking half decent, but a ding will push out).

Yea sometimes dents can be push/pulled out using them suckers for the cars. I think it's similar to those used by glass repairers for big windows. Also those chip specialist in the yellow pages can be expensive.
