Can't believe people still harping on about 4x4s,we live in the country and drive a 4x4,we take it off road on a regular basis, but we also go into town, what are we supposed to do?buy another car for town trips? double insurance, double tax,my 4x4 averages 34mpg not as bad as said on here,it has a bullbar, but made of rubber,I would rather a child hit a nice soft rubber bullbar than a solid metal car bumper, people make assumptions about us just from our car, they assume that when it is clean,it has never seen mud. They assume the bullbar is metal it isn't.They assume we only use it to take kids to school, well sometimes it does, but not everyday.BTW the tax was only increased on cars reg.after 03/01 and it goes on emissions not the fact it is a 4x4,so most people carriers would fit in the new banding, and some 4x4 won't.Leave us alone and let people choose what car they drive,it's personal choice.

For a start, cars don't have metal bumpers. The point being is that because of the height of most 4x4s, on impact it's at the height of a child's head. Personally I think it's parental negligence that usually plays the biggest factor in the kid's injury, but hey. I agree that it's more wasteful to have a car for every occasion, but what gets me annoyed is people who buy them as a luxury. Do these people seriously not care about the environment? The other matters seem trivial to me (e.g. hazardous, annoying), but what about the planet? Sorry if I sound like a hippie, I'm a veggie too, but I'm not a hippie. Honest. I'm just developing a conscience, that's all. :T

Well, [un?]fortunately looks like SUVs (probably Shed On Wheels in some language or other) is the next minority for the TB/GBees to have a go at. Don't think I'll be marching in the streets...

Actually, penis enlargement surgery is a lot cheaper than a BMW X5. I won't say how I know that!

Most of my previous cars have had metal bumpers,a nice heavy alfa romeo with a huge metal bumper being our favourite, but we got rid as written off,not hurt thanks to bumper he he,my 4x4 is environmentaly friendly,we run it only on pure bio-diesel from a local supplier, not the half mix stuff from garages,it is quite old and all parts come from scrappy so we recycle aswell, not doing much harm to the planet are we?

Nope, and you're less damage than me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a pop at you, and I hope to one day follow in your footsteps (although I don't need a 4x4). I think people have a gripe with mum's on the school run driving stuff like this. The problem is that you're all getting tarred with the same brush.

an the end of the day, its fashion, sometimes its fashionable to have a small car, sometimes a big car. sometimes a green car, sometimes a car thats do's 10 mpg. this will never change. its not the cars fault! its us, all of us. i have an old bubble car, next door what looks like a hummer? who right and whos wrong? if i have a crash, i'am dead, next door, i new headlight. its my choice.
