My husband has a Sony W910i for around 12 months. He is a machine operator for a welding company. The phone sits in his pocket all the time he is at work. He finds it very difficult to hear on this phone just lately, a couple of years ago he had a similar problem with a different phone (samsung I believe) and it turned out that the speaker had loads of metal filings stuck to it. I'm thinking the same thing has happened with this phone. Is there anything anyone can recommend that might help the situation in the future.
Getting a new job is not the answer, nor is leaving the phone in the car. I have to be able to contact him at all times and the office phone doesn't always get answered.
Would a protective cover/case help?

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

Just to clarify, he can hear the phone ringing ok its hearing people talk to him that is the problem. He doesn't get on well with a blue tooth earpiece as it gets in the way of his goggles/facemask straps etc.
Don't think I was clear about this in my first post, sorry.

Surely it's not safe to use a mobile while operating a machine tool? It's a bit like driving and phoning? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Macman... the machine in question is a plasma cutter which more or less does its own thing as it's hooked up to a computer. ..... not sure how that relates to my asking for suggstions on how to keep the metal filings out of his phone?Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday.
